Merrily we crawl along, crawl along, crawl along.....tra la la. (Can't find music emojis on my phone.)
I decided that since I was going to do a long run I would keep to a lower heart rate between 150-160. That's probably high for some of you, but since it was a hot day, that was a ๐ pace run for me!
Once I found that slooooow pace (it took a while...) I clicked into the zone and decided it was time to up the distance slightly. That's the great thing about an out and back run - you commit to a distance on the outward leg and have to get it done to get home!
Nothing eventful to report except for a brief moment I was joined by dijep 's phantom runner - but it was just the water slapping in my water bottle. ๐ This was after Headphone Woman drawled "Charge me...." before shutting down.
Was absolutely delighted to get to 8K - the longest I've run for a long time in my journey back to 10k. Funny thing though - I ran out the way and turned at 4k on the Garmin - but had to run past my starting point to get to 8k. Why was that???? ๐คทโโ๏ธ

Well done! Sounds a great run, although Iโm not sure about the phantom runner ๐ฑ
That distance thing happens to me sometimes too. I run the same route and starting and finish places are the same yet I end up with a different result ๐ค I think it must be the technology, itโs never 100% accurate.
Yes its a weird one, isn't it? Was a great run though and I also keep an eagle eye on the watch towards the end of a run so I don't fall short of the target.... Too annoying when that happens ๐
Congratulations on your 8k it's so good isn't it to get back to the longer runs. I really don't think that the out and back would commit me to the distance I think I'd just walk instead ๐คฃ I much prefer circular routes. Out and backs are mainly when I'm worried about getting lost !
Yes its great to be building up the distance again. I really like this particular route because it has a very gentle gradient on the outward leg, which makes it a tad easier on the way back. Hopefully we'll both hit 10k again this month some time!
Well done. I also tried 8k last night as I ease up to 10k but I was running in a new area and over some fields which made it tough second half was a mix of a little walking too so not great so next time Iโll map it out a bit more. Itโs been a few years since Iโve run for so long but itโs great to be out there doing it again- good luck for your next one!
Sounds like a good run. Annoying about headphone woman though. I hate it when that happens. My headphones are great quality but I wish they could tell me how many minutes I've got left before I set off!!
