Urgg, how quickly does fitness drop off?

A rhetorical question.

I’ve struggled for one reason or another to get many runs in over the last 3 weeks - 20km in 3 weeks - I try and do that weekly.

Now I’ve recovered, I’ve squashed 2x 5k’s in yesterday and today. I’m amazed at how much fitness I’ve lost. Hoping it comes back as quickly as it cleared off.

Don’t feel too sorry for me, the last 3 weekends

1. Weekend camping with the lads - too much beer

2. Stag do - too much beer

3. Stomach upset - I suspect caused by 1 and 2

I’m going anti-social again…..

The Running Channel on youtube did a video on The Beer Race. They had to down a can of fizzy lager at the start line. I think it’s all about not throwing up.

A friend does those Hash Runs - they self-describe their organisation something like, “a drinking club with a running problem”.

It’s all a bit too extreme for me.

Hope you feel yourself next time out. 🙂

Lol, it's hard to balance running and life isn't it!?

Ha Ha. I know where your coming from. I took my foot off the pedal over lockdown. I am trying to rebuild my fitness but it is so slow and difficult . But I’ll get there. The fact that I started home brewing beer didn’t help. 😵‍💫

Oh dear, wasn’t life healthier during restrictions 😂. Your back out again though well done. Happy running 🤗

Unfortunately I'm also having to take my foot off the pedal. I got some nasty insect bites on my legs on Sunday and this morning I got pinged by NHS Test and Trace...

But do you know that you no longer have to self-isolate if pinged? Many companies now ask staff for the proof of positive pcr test if they wish not to attend work.

I've been working from home since March last year and my employer has applied no pressure on anyone to return to the office. I had a PCR test this lunchtime.

Temperature is normal, Pulse Oximeter is normal, but I have developed a sore throat. I can wait a day or two before going out again.

The insect bites are infected, and that's what has been preventing me running the last few days.
