Withdrawal symptoms

I realise I’ve not posted for a while.

I’ve managed to keep running through the winter up to this week when the snow and ice have grounded me. I’m sure my body needs the rest.

My last run was last Sunday and was my 100th since completing Couch to 5k, a reasonable (for me) 10k at 1:14:08, 7:24/k.

Since the turn of the year I’ve been doing 5 runs a week - a couple around 2.5k, a couple around 5k, and a long run of 10k or 11k.

I’m still enjoying it as much as ever but I’m finding 10k is about my limit. I shake my head at that distance, remembering week one last March.

Weight loss continues. I’m 7.2kg inside the “overweight” zone for my height and still slowly falling. I’ve gone down 4 inches around the waist and 1.5 inches around the neck. Mainly down to tracking everything through MyFitnessPal and being stubborn.

Hoping we get a thaw and I can safely do a run, but looking likely to be a couple of fallow weeks first.

Whatever run you do next, be safe and enjoy it x

Wow! Jay just seen your post and photo you look b****y fantastic. Keep on doing what you’re doing, it suits you, 5 times a week? Blimey! I thought 3 times a week was good. Brilliant👍

On the serious point, 5 runs is a lot of commitment and relies on not pushing too fast. I’ve found it hard to fit into work, especially in winter evenings. But it’s what I hope to manage most weeks.

It's insane! Not sure how you're doing it, but kudos to you 🤗💪👊🦋

5 runs a week is phenomenal, Jay! And look how far you have come. Also, looking very fit and healthy. Isn’t running great? I’m with you - looking forward to better running weather so I can maintain some consistency. 🙂 Well done on your amazing weight loss, too, you must be feeling great.

Holy shamoley Jay you are a veritable sylph! 😀 What a fabulous reward for all your hard work. 👏👏👏 No words really, other than you look totally amazing. 👊

Sounds like you’re getting in some great runs too. I’ll almost certainly be sticking at 10k too, I’m never going to be a gazelle but I’m happy with that. A few 10k races here and there, and I’ll be a happy bunny (chipmunk!). Can’t believe how far we’ve all come, us Summer 2018 grads! 👍👊🥂

Well done Jay, flipping awesome! 🏃🏃👍👍

Fantastic results all around Jay!! Think I’m on run 68 since graduating, or at least I would have been this morning had I done PR. I’m doing my own version of Ju-Ju’s plan to get to 10k but it’s going slowly, so always an inspiration to hear of others flying in the face of health and fitness.

Keep up the good work matey!!

😃

You’re doing brilliantly Jay! If 5 days is too much, you can always drop back to 3 times a week like most of us seem to try to do! When you think how far we’ve come since those early C25k days, it’s a bit hard to comprehend isn’t it? I’m sticking at 10k too - it’s at the limit of my interest.

Your absence has been noted Jay66uk, but if you are running 5 times a week as well as working, it doesn’t leave a lot of time for posting.

You are doing brilliantly and the transformation over the last year has been tremendous. Looking good and feeling great.

Enjoy that running break, your body will be thanking you for it. 🏃‍♂️👍

Well done Jay! 5 times a week though? How can you go longer without more resting in between? You’re doing fab!

Jay66UK profile image

It’s a running programme I found. Big run plus two half distance plus two quarter distance. The short runs don’t feel like a lot, to be honest. And I do no more than three days in a row.

Hi Jay, your post is amazing! Great results for your efforts. Well done. I wonder if this is what you imagined last Feb? 👏

Last year I had no expectation of completing Couch. And then no expectation to reach 5k. Everything is a bonus.

5 runs a week! Wow! I'm also suffering withdrawal from running, haven't run since Monday and too much snow and ice here to try!

Glad it's all going well! 👟👟😁

Congratulations on your progress and achievements Jay. The weight loss is fantastic - I've had my fair share of that but it does involve some financial outlay for new trousers! 😀

Happy running

Yey good to hear from you! Glad you’re doing well and still enjoying running. I did RedJanuary so made sure to walk/run every day and it’s given me the bug back! Like you though it’s very icy here and slippery at the moment so no run for me for a few days, sticking to dancing round my house like a loon. I also started using MFP Jan 1st and with that and a combo of Dry Jan I’ve lost 13lbs! Here’s to a great year for all us 🏃‍♀️😘👍

What an amazing achievement Jay! All down to being focused and committed. I’m in a similar situation in terms of weight and I’m slowly seeing my body changing which pleases me no end! I’m aiming to squeeze another wee run in to my weekly 3. Go us 🙌🏻 🏃‍♂️ 🏃🏼‍♀️

Good to see you Jay, and hear you being so positive - I'm really pleased for you and that you've found that routine. Isn't that 10k pace so much faster than you were able to do before? I'm dreaming of a 7:30 pace for 10k at the moment and you're smashing it! keep going.
