Even if it’s for 10 minutes!

So….work was draining, the weather is perfect, sunny and breezy.

Home, change, put dinner in oven, check the cat is in,

Park or industrial estate? check out the park, where is everyone??? all through the last year and a half weekend run in the parks been impossible, kids on bikes, scooters, people pushing babies in buggies, dogs everywhere. Today is a sunny saturday afternoon and all we can see is a couple with a dog right the other side of the park.

Warm up walk, off we go, hmm I’m recording yoga so stop watch and start again, wonder what happened to the intervals I tried to set up?

So ran and ran faster then ran slower because I ate lunch at work and not the most comfortable. Willow sticks with me, we run as fast as we can for a while then slow right down, grinning at the fun, then oh! 10 minutes has passed, walk back to car and at least we’ve been out.

Home, change, veg or salad with the chicken? can’t decide…. cup of tea and sit 😀

And that’s it

Happy weekend all

I think if it’s anything like here W&S, everyone is at the beach! What a beautiful day today, it was just perfect for our parkrun this morning. There were lots of people swimming in the sea as we walked home.

Well done for getting out, and I am so impressed that you get your meal in the oven beforehand. That is so organised.

If I run I don’t pick while dinner is cooking 😀it’s lovely and I was tempted to a paddle after the short run but i am a bit shattered

I’m doing an august bingo card and it includes a paddle after a run and an ice cream after a run. Lolling forward to both! My C25k graduation run ended with an ice cream 🍦

Sounds like a good time was had by all WaS! You’re so right about getting out, even for a short time - I’m away from home at the moment and will have to go for a brisk walk tomorrow. Can’t run because I forgot to pack the essentials- curses!

Oh no, I’ve done that, been away and not had running essentials Enjoy your walk

Well done for getting out there after work and for getting dinner on the go too. I know exactly what you mean. The woods were like Picadilly Circus for months over autumn winter and spring now there is hardly anyone. Not that I am complaining. I like it quiet.

Salad with the chicken - it is summer after all. Enjoy 😋🍗🥗

That’s what we decided in the end, there’s some left over veg in the fridge from yesterday too so i added them to mine lol

Nice run for both of you, sometimes in the late summer people just don't bother to visit parks, the busiest time of the year for people going to parks is late spring and early summer, so enjoy running in your park while it is not busy.

As you'll have read here, my routine "most days" run only has 15 minutes of running. Just enough to get past the "toxic ten" and a little more.

We managed just over 10 today, so will see what happens tomorrow

That heading is so true…the hardest part is so often just getting out the door!

Great little run again for you both 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️

Yes! 😀exactly, so many times i drive home from work thinking we can run even if it’s just a short one then get home and suddenly… do you want to go? not really do you? not bothered…. let’s go tomorrow…. then regret it, so the new thing in this house is, go out when i get home from work, warm up walk, run, see what happens, doesn’t matter if we only run a few steps and realise we are too tired as long as we get out 😀

Sounds like a good plan. I always felt that it wasn't worth putting on the gear for less than a 20 minute run. But now that I am stymied and not running, I wonder if I should adopt this tactic?

I started again from the beginning and got up to week 5 run 1 when the hip niggle kicked in again, so I stopped running a second time. Now I am thinking, instead of going back to week 2 or 3 of the plan, maybe just go out and do ten minutes of intervals and see how it goes :)

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Newbie59

That sounds like a really good plan, even a little is worth it and might help strengthen the muscles to support your hip

Thanks, yes, and it will really help if I get down to doing the hip exercises too :)
