Here goes again. Meant to do 10k at the weekend but life conspired to get in the way so today I set off with a 60 min podcast in my headphones and thought I’d see how things went. Managed the 5k ...just .... and even went UP a hill I usually come down in the first 15mins so I was feeling quite positive then. I’d reversed one of my usual runs so then I ended up running down the gentle but long slope that I usually run Up so that was good. I was feeling fine then and I ran on, crossed the road and headed into the Industrial Estate, ran around that and then onto the Tarka Trail. Then I turned and ran back towards the town and towards the Park. I’d reached the 5k as I nearer the Park but decided to try to keep going to 6.
I ran the reverse way round the Park too, for a change and passed the 6k... shall I carry on? Yeah why not? So I thought I’d run to the end of the 60 minutes podcast which was exactly 7k.
I nearly stopped but I was at the far end of the Park then so I thought I’d keep going to 8k..... then 9 as I’d run nearly back to where I’d joined the Tark Trail first and then turned and “oh sod it I’ve come this far.....”. I kept going back along retracing my steps and finally got to 10k just as I got to the Rolle Quay Bridge again and then I stopped my watch thankfully and walked home.
The last 3ks were without music and a real struggle so I end up counting my steps. If I count each time my right foot strikes the pavement and count to 60 that equals approx 0.1 k and then I count again and then when my watch buzzes to tell me it’s another 1k I start again. Sad I know but it works for me and means I don’t keep glancing at my watch and sometimes if I’m a bit speedier it buzzes early. ( not this morning though).
However
-it was still 10k
- I’ve had a dreadful week with my poor Loki
- hardly any sleep again
So I’ll take that.
Loki is back to have his dressings changed today and he seems in less pain at the mo, which is good, but is desperate to get out and go to the toilet. He will NOT use his litter tray. He hasn’t weed since he weed in the carrier at the vets yesterday morning. And I expect he’ll save it again for today ( he hasnt poohed either since we brought him home Friday afternoon.i think it’s the meds but I hope THAT doesn’t happen in the carrier too 🤢). He just sits and gazed mournfully out the window at the great outdoors...

🤞☹️I think we are all struggling with how diferent things are at the mo. Work, life, seeing family and friends....having to think before you do every little aspect of our lives...
Great run limberlou and well done getting your 10k done. I hope your cat continues to recover and the wounds heal asap so he can get back to some kind of normality. Good luck 🤞🤞🐱🏃♀️
Well done on pushing through and getting to 10k, that's just brilliant with everything you have going on at the moment. And I'm so glad to hear that Loki is doing a bit better and is on the mend. Mine always hate it if they have to stay inside and always manage to make me feel extremely guilty and like it's all my fault but they always get over it! I hope Loki can get out again before too long 🤞😾😺
Well done again and I hope you get a better night's sleep with that run behind you too. 🏃♀️😴😁
What a fantastic 10k, well done, you must be so proud. I hope Loki gets a good report at the vets and doesn't leave a "present" in the carrier. Happy running 🤗
He was a good boy but he was in there nearly 40 mins while they redressed his leg and he had weed as they got him out of the carrier and then poohed when they checked his tummy so at least I didn’t had to deal with that. They said he’d lost a bit more skin which they’d expected but it’s looking good and he hasn’t got to go back till Thursday.
Absolutely fantastic LL. That’s the way to run an unplanned 10k! 👊 I bet you feel great having done that. I count my steps too, and find it helps. I’m currently doing it with my intervals and I count them down (hopefully not out loud 😳) 🏃♀️
I’m so glad Loki is feeling better. Cats are funny about going to the loo aren’t they? Mine’s been a house cat since he was a kitten - he’s now 10 - and on the rare occasion that he’s been out, he clearly hasn’t been as he darts straight to his litter tray when he comes in! 🙄😅🐈
