At the start of the month there was the anticipation of the return of parkrun and the Manchester 10k event. Both of those were postponed. Parkrun to 24 July and the 10k to 31 October. That's a disappointment.
The heat hasn't helped this month. I've had to curtail some of my more intense run workouts because of it.
That apart, I've improved my PBs for both 5km and 10km without intentionally chasing times. I ran my first sub-hour 10km on a warm morning in hilly North Welsh terrain.
I'm again building up my distances having had to drop back from the peak of 18km I reached in April. I did 15km on Saturday and plan to revisit 10 miles this weekend, with an aim of cracking the Half Marathon in mid July.
And this morning my watch said I was "Superior", which certainly didn't match how I felt.
I started my third (successful) attempt at Couch to 5K a year ago on Tuesday 23 June 2020, graduating on Friday 28 August 2020. I've come a very long way in that time, and I'm not sure I'd have done it without the support and encouragement of the folks here.
Not sure the pic is going to come out right, it looks as though it's been cropped - if you can see it, things I'd achieved early have a grey background, things partially achieved during the month yellow, and things fully achieved green. And in case you can't, I managed 750m at warp speed on the road, 2k at warp speed in two 1k spurts while doing 5k on the treadmill, 6k at parkrun pace on the road and 12k at Great South Run pace on the road.
So now I'll change the those June achievements to grey background and use it as my start point for Grannyhugs July Quest.
