For the first time in quite a while, I nailed this Quest! Whoohoo! I had a whooopsydaisy incident earlier this week involving moving a deep freeze and my big toe (resulting in a lot of expletives π€¬) so Iβve taken a couple extra days rest this week but Iβm still calling it a win β . I am able to walk again without a limp so will be getting back out tomorrow and am happily waiting for Julyβs Quest. Iβm already planning on what my Quest will be.....
Not my most successful Quest, so some hard thinking about July needed.
One success was achieving my 5km swim for the month - I'm now down to the last 20% of my virtual swim which I started 4 years ago.
Daily yoga started well but came to an early and screeching halt for reasons I really don't understand.
30DaysWild was a bit limp this year if I am honest, although I think I did 'notice nature feel joy' every day in small ways. It was a tough month with a harsh reminder of the limits on my energies and the recovery time which cannot be avoided but I think for next year more planning and building in more structure and organised things might help. However our visit to the East Yorkshire coast was a fabulous highlight (even if I did miss out on a paddle and a run on the beach)
Which leads me to the running which has been pretty dismal this month for the above reasons, and the heat a factor too perhaps (and I have to be mindful of Google as well as myself in that) I missed out on what I intended to be the 'fabulous' run of my goals: the beach run, due to the tides. However, the run I did through the meadow with head/shoulder height grasses and flowers... that was pretty glorious.
Well done GoogleMe, you always throw youself into the Quests wholeheartedly, and do your very best to complete them.
The swimming was aced, well done that takes planning.
You did some daily yoga and will come back to it.
Your 30dayswild is something I think you will continue to take forward with you, and you have made us all aware of thinking of ways to help and encourage wildlife.
Your run through the meadow was a highlight, before the heat made it too much for Google to run. I'm sure he has had some nice walks.
I have quite detailed plans for my months, weeks, years... just things to help me achieve what I want to achieve, keep me on track. So one of those things is a monthly bath... partly to make sure that I use the lovely bath bombs I get given in a timely fashion and a good soak and body survey is no bad thing. Anyway, I found myself with time to get one in on the last day of the month and then thought "Hang on, I can do a yoga practice whilst it is running" And so I did... one goal helps another.
Oh yes. I call it my 'King John' schedule - he was regarded as a bit dodgy for having so many baths at 12 a year.
My Dad has just called me and said that he has suddenly remembered he needs to take showers at home. He's been so used to always showering at the gym/pool!
How did my Quest go, well...to recap, my goals were:-
1. Keep up running 3 times per week β
2. Add strengthening exercises γ°οΈ
Haven't added as much as I'd planned. Sunburn put paid to the floor exercises I'd hoped to do.
3. Try a Parkrun β
OH got sick so haven't managed this either.
However, my running has continued to improve. I've managed:-
1. A sub-30 5K, which I thought was out of reach for a while. β
2. An all-time 3rd place (women) π₯for a local Segment on Strava that I didn't even know existed until my placement was announced on the leaderboard β
3. I've run on my own, so I know I CAN pace myself and not rely on the OH. β
4. Started the ju-ju- Magic π β
My OH wasn't keen but when he got laid up I could do what I liked!
5. Treated myself to some true wireless headphones π§ which were on sale and are just epic! β
So, while I haven't completed the planned goals, I have had an amazing month, and I'll take that! πββοΈπ¨π¨
Sooooo, I did take part honest. Didnβt manage 5k run every time but once because I ran with my beautiful sisters and the youngest is only on week 3 and once because it is so blinking hot.
Still 3 times a week and still going so thatβs the run that I want doo dut dooo dooπ
Thanks all on the quest for keeping me company in this flaming June
So the last few weeks have been challenging (a polite description) at work involving a ridiculous amount of meetings after school and a Yr6 residential to Wales.
So didn't run on alternate days- however did manage a 9.6k last Sunday (the last 2k with sunscreen in my eye - why oh why does it hurt so much?) and and a scenic early morning run while away in Wales with 30 chidren (proud of managing this!) Along with lots of 'cross-training' including caving, climbing and sea kayaking!
However early this morning, back home, set of for a 5k and rain my best time ever! So happy about June running after all.
Not a totally successful quest BBr missed the last run of week 4, but when I looked at what I have done this month, I have managed 3 runs a week, (one run short this week only) Did a 6km, 7km and two parkruns. So Iβm very happy. π₯
Thanks heaps. I think it must be awful running in that heat. I had a whatsapp txt and photo from my cousin in Blackrod yesterday, showing the hills behind her house ablaze. Scarey! Hope to join you again on ju jus plan. Back at ya πxx
Not sure I got all my questing goals in...but I am going to download the certificate as I did get a few really good runs in before the injuries started... I love the certificate and it will make me feel happy ! Thanks you x
I hope you have a great week at the coast Floss. π
Your HM plan was going well, speed runs and long runs too, plus swimming, cycling and walking... You definitely had a successful month before your injuries.
I know you will get back to it once given the all clear by your consultant, but for now they say patience is a virtue...
