After a long week at work, what better way to spend an evening than to run as fast as you can, in fancy dress, for 2 miles and be rewarded with a bottle of nice, cold, locally brewed beer. That’s what myself, Katnap , Shake-and-run and Windoze did on Friday.
Our local running event company had finally started to get COVID safe events approved and this seemed the perfect excuse to get a group of us together. I’d seen the Run for Beer Relay run a couple of years ago, people dressed as snails, unicorns etc, running down one of the roads near us, and I thought: ‘I want to do that!’. Didn’t realise it would take another two years to do but hey ho.
Shakes had the great idea of dressing up as mad scientists. I borrowed some lab coats and safety specs from work, Shakes made appropriate mad scientist name badges (Dr Frankenstein, Dr Moreau etc) and I got a very, very large (joke) syringe from Amazon just to make it topical.
We were in the Mixed Team (2+2) category and we weren’t going for speed (there were some super speedy runners taking it very seriously) but we weren’t last. We had tons of fun and I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone who does or doesn’t like beer (I’ll have yours 😋😉).
