First 10k!

After running 5k every other day I decided to see if I could push myself to 10k this morning….only went and did it! Can’t believe the progress I’ve made. Just a few years ago I was pushing 18st and almost a 38” waist. Now just over 13st and a 32” waist 🙂

Well done and congratulations on the 10K but also for the weight loss too! Amazing! That’s a great time for your first 10K too.

Now you can run free for pure joy and abandonment while you consolidate your new distance 🙂

Congratulations, that’s a great time! And well done on the weight loss! My own weight loss has plateaued and I seem to be stuck at the same weight. I figure as long as I’m able to run then it’s all good 👍🏻

This is amazing! It makes me want to go and try it... I also run 5k every other day. How did you manage to keep going for double the distance? I'm impressed! 😁👍

Honestly I just kept my head down and paced myself. There was a point at 7k where I just didn’t think I could carry on. It took everything to keep going but the feeling of elation when my watched buzzed at 10k was worth it! Although I think I scared some poor woman walking her dog when I shouted yes!! 😂

😂🤣😂🤣 when I'm feeling extra motivated and the temperature isn't too warm I might give it a go. Well done anyway. Does this mean you will be going for more 10k's from now on?

Go for it! Just pace yourself and don’t push too hard.

It’s pretty much how I found it when I was doing the C25K program. It’s your brain telling you that you can’t do it but your body can. The amount of internal arguments i had with each jump in running time 😂😂

I’m thinking of doing 5k twice during the week and then trying for 10k at weekends. See how it goes. If that goes ok I might try for 15k next. Might!

You are one ambitious individual NorthernMonkey1. I plan on doing two more weeks of 5k runs ending in a park run hopefully. During those runs I'll try going a bit further to see what happens... I'll get back to you on it. There is also a 10k plan that ju-ju posted up, I don't know if you have seen that? You can download it too.. ☺️

Two 5k runs and one 10k a week is a good solid base. Instead of adding 5k in one go, it's worth considering building more gradually because there's less risk of injury.

Congrats on your 10k.

Well done and congrats! I did my first 10K today too, let's have pie! 🍰

Well done blackscorpion! How did you find it?

With the right weather like it was yesterday morning, it was fabulous (only 1 toe hated it). But I would not be able to do it in the heat or so (as it is at the moment again).
