New Running Vest and a 10k

Well, today I tried out my new running vest, I was really excited to see how it would shape up. But I hadn’t adjusted it properly, and for the first half k or so it was flapping about, so I nearly whipped it off and threw it in the hedge in a fit of pique! Anyway, straps adjusted, things settled down, although it was a little bit strange having water with me for the first time ever - but what a treat when I fancied a sip! 💦💦💦

Today I chose Coach Bennett’s 8k tempo run. More fool me, I didn’t realise that this is, in fact, 12k in total - 2k warm up and the same for the cool down as it were. With some 8k madness in the middle 😆. 12k was a bit beyond me today, so I settled on 10k, which was quite hard work with some hills thrown in and the temperature getting warmer. But wait, I told myself, you have water!!! It was such a novelty, it really was, to be able to take a few sips here and there. It’s a compressible bottle so doesn’t take up too much room although it was weird having that extra little bit of weight in one of my new secret vest pockets.

A lady taking her children to school said to them to make some room for the runner to pass. I smiled to myself, I really did, because she meant me, and I never thought anyone would describe me as a runner 🏃‍♀️😁.

I hope everyone has a smashing day whatever you choose to do! 🌞🌞🌞

Well done on doing 10k and hills in this weather. Lol at the fit of pique 😂 thats like me too when too warm and frustrated! Glad you got it sorted in the end. Is it like a bladder system for the water? I always take a little bottle of water out with me and sip it all the way but carry it in my hand and thats me just doing 30mins usually!

Hi tmbtrain 😊 and thank you! There’s room for a bladder thingy in the back, but I don’t fancy carrying the extra weight to be honest, so I just used a pocket at the front designed for a water bottle. All the best 😊🏃‍♀️.

Yeah the weight could be a problem. I've seen a few hill walkers with the water tube and it looks very handy but thats a bit different from running. Down to preference i guess 🙂
