For reasons various, I haven’t run for 2 weeks so I was a bit trepidatious as to whether I’d actually get more than 100 yards today! Because my hip still isn’t right I’m doing blocks of 8 minutes run followed by a 2 minute walk so I knew there would be breaks to look forward to and set off to enjoy myself. I’m only managing a 10 minute km at the moment but a mixture of running and walking took me to just over 5km which included my longest running section for ages so I’m really pleased with that and it’s given me confidence that I can do a bit more next time out. Plus it gives me something to add to @damienair’s (not)parkrun post for the first time since January and I have a respectable total for my final COGH post! My 220km total is pretty low compared to some ( in awe of you @JaySeeSkinny!) but every little helps! I clapped and gave a well done to a couple sporting their Vitality 10k numbers which they thanked me for and on the way home I met a neighbour who was thrilled to see my tee shirt as she’s from the Cape of Good Hope - what a lovely day! It was glorious along our prom this morning, the tide was really low and there were loads of people in the sea even at 8 o’clock! Pics are of my tee shirt on it’s first outing to the beach, our beach just coming into flower (yes, really!) and the Solent. Enjoy your weekend folks!
Final COGH post 😭: For reasons various, I... - Bridge to 10K
Final COGH post 😭
Brilliant Oldgirlruns ! I didn’t know you had the shirt - very impressive. I know how hard the last few months have been but keep up those exercises and this distance and I’m sure you’ll be running all of parkrun on return next month. A good job you got out early I think. It’s gonna be sunny and busy.
Thanks Dexy, yes I’ll be working towards parkrun! And yes it’s going to be busy on the beach - a day for the garden I think!
Don’t forget tto add your photo to the team photos post. You need too go I through safari, not the app
Nice photos Oldgirlruns, you have done very well indeed with COGH, yesterday was also my final run, from now on when I come in from a walk or run it will seem strange not reporting them to the COGH website, I hope it won't be long before you can run fully again, this morning in the brilliant sunshine I went a short 11 miles 🚲 bike ride.
11 miles? Short? Blimey Al, I dare not ask what a long one might be! But thanks - I’ll miss COGH and the great company but it’s been great fun hasn’t it!
So good to see you out running again, the photos are stunning,
Woo! Go OGR. 💥 A lovely positive post, and it sounds like you’re truly on the road to recovery.
COGH in the bag - I didn’t get a teeshirt but I ran my final contribution yesterday, plus a short walk. Didn’t we do well? 🎉🎉
Lovely photos 😊 It sounds like you had a good run despite your trepidations👍 How wonderful to meet someone from the Cape of Good Hope while sporting your tee shirt.😄
Brilliant! It is quite sad putting last run in isn't it but happy too as we were a great team!!
Ah fabulous!
Sounds like things are getting better, well done you for your patience and perseverance
Well done on that final run - really glad things are slowly getting better. I think we will all be a bit lost not posting our runs and walks! My Garmin said I walked over 25k today (but it does overstate if I don’t actually measure my walks - and I didn’t today because there is no COGH😥). It seemed a bit of a waste not to use it!We shall all wear our t-shirts with pride. Lovely photos!
Well done on your 5k OGR - sounds like things are definitely on the up!👍
perfect!
Lovely post, glad you’re getting back in the swing of things. I wore my bib number for my vitality run, but not a peep from anyone I passed, but I am on the outskirts of London so what did I expect!! So sad COGH has ended was a great experience and surprising to see the km mount up. Congratulations to all who took part.
Fantastic OGR ( & lovely photos) - great that you are finding a way to manage your grumbling hip. - I hope it settles down soon. I love the idea of your beach flowering - what plant? Where I am currently in the Highlands, there is plenty of flowering Sea Thrift. 😄
A bit of a late response Elfe - I had to do a beach recce to check the signboards as there’s no way I can ever remember what the plants are! It’s sea kale in the picture but we also have sea thistle, red valerian and yellow horned poppy to make the whole place really colourful at this time of year. There are also escapees from nearby gardens which adds to the look. Best of all, it looks as though the greenery is spreading over more of the beach!
