Anyway, what I do remember is it was my worst run ever !! I did 5K and after 1K I wanted it to be over πππ
BUT, I had signed up for the London Vitality Virtual 10000 run , and the window for running was getting closer !
The problem was, that last run had got into my head ! The Gremlins were having a party in there !πππ
I had not decided what day in the window I would do the run , but looking at the weather forecast, and having the weekend off, I thought today was a perfect opportunity before it warmed up too much as is forecast for the week ahead .
It was also a late Runniversary run as my first year running was on 24th May !
So I thought it would be a good way to celebrate !
I went out around 10 :15 ish .
In very lightweight shorts and lightweight t shirt and this was just right !
I set off at a reasonable pace for a 10k and from the start the run felt so much better than the previous one !
I was running to the NRC 10K Head Starts Run .
I have never used a 10K NRC Run before and this was good !
With little thought provoking questions throughout the run , just enough to keep you interested but not that frequent to be annoying π
I followed my usual route and the first 3, 4 and 5K passed comfortably and I was managing to maintain what felt like a fairly steady pace , more importantly, no aches, pains or niggles π
By about 7K I was starting to feel quite warm ! Even in the most minimal of clothing .
Luckily it was still a little cloudy so preventing the sun coming through too much !
I passed my next door neighbour walking back from the shops with a fairly warm coat on and she looked hotter than me !
We passed and exchanged greetings on the move π
At around 9K I was feeling a little tired so glad I was nearly there π
The NRC Run finished 10k well before my Garmin so of course I carried on until Mr Garmin hit 10K .
Back home to water , stretches then a big mug of tea π
Looking at the stats I managed to get a 10K PB on this run also for my first run of my 2nd running year π¬ .
So, Vitality Run done on the first day the window opened !
And the Gremlins can go and do one !!! π€£π€£π€£
Massive congratulations on your 10k , runniversary and beating those gremlins. Glad you were finished before it got too hot - 20 in my garden just now. Happy running π€
Congratulations on completing that 10K and the London Vitality Virtual 10,000, well done π ππΎ,
I intend to run it next Wednesday morning, not sure what the process is to prove that you have ran it, this morning I ran my 50th not parkrun, during the run I saw 3 runners who had the Vitality London 10 000 bib around their waist
How good to get a PB today Instructor57 !πππ I hope that has sent those gremlins packing! Well done on completing your Vitality 10000 - now you can sit back abd wait for the lovely bling to arrive!π π
Super well done Ian! For your 10k, runniversary, and of course, beating those bloominβ gremlins. That all deserves a huge pat on the back in my book. I swear by the NRC runs, so Iβm glad you enjoyed it. Onwards and upwards methinks for you now. Hurrah ππββοΈπ.
Amazing, I was looking at the Head start runs this morning, maybe try one tomorrow So glad your run was better than the last, you obviously needed the break
Sometimes a break means you run on fresh legs, I didnβt wish you happy runniversary so do now and thatβs a good time for 10 k mine took much longer
Congratulations Ian thatβs a cracking 10k, I remember hitting my PB when I did last years, I think itβs the thought in your mind that this is actually a race and it spurs you on. Iβve not done mine yet, will do in the next day or so, havenβt done a 10k for a while so fingers crossed itβll go ok. π€
Fantastic stuff Instructor57 . What a brilliant time you must be so pleased with that. Massive congratulations on your 10k PB and runniversary and for kicking those Gremlins in to touch. Enjoy your medal π
Well done, Ian - lots to be proud of with this run! Firstly - overcoming the gremlins and getting out there! Not always as easy at it sounds when youβve had a run previously that you werenβt happy with.
Then you ran for 10K and got a PB, successfully completing the virtual Vitality 10,000.
And lastly congratulations on your Runniversary. A whole year of running! Amazing!
Iβm in your neck of the woods today in Shrewsbury! πβΊοΈ
Itβs very pretty here! Iβve been to the Dingle before, itβs lovely. Yesterday we went in the woods at Nesscliffe, it was a lovely walk. Not sure where weβre going today!
Yay congratulations!! ππ₯π€Έ I also completed mine yesterday but it took me 1:34. Not complaining given how little running I've been able to do since January and the fact that I spent all of last week sitting still doing jury service πHope you celebrated that PB, what a great start to your second running year πππββοΈπββοΈ
Well done on your Runniversary I57! I love CB on the NRC - he's definitely encouraging when the going gets tough. My 1st year Runnivesary is next month - I need to graduate as a 10k-er by then!!
I enroled in the London Vitality 10000 but it's moved north to Hatfield Pk so not sure I can make it. So will try and do my own virtual version instead! No medal though!
Congratulations on beating the gremlins, your runniversary & getting your 10k PB done! I was almost the same, although I started so early (unlike me for a Saturday, but woke early with the pre-race heebie-jeebies so just went for it), I was probably back before you started. I did a NRC run as well, but just the standard 10k one with Coach Bennett & it was really helpful. I was glad to get out & back before it got too hot (in Darkest Lanarkshire - I know!). I don't think I'll be doing another 10k any time soon as my hip is getting too unreliable, but I'm so glad I managed this one, and my time was better than I expected π₯³. Well done!
