To be honest I was not feeling like running today but my last run was last Sunday and having signed up for the London vitality 10000, well, I thought I'd better get out there and at least get a run in !
If I had followed my run sequence then today should have been a long run but I knew before I even left the house that was not going to happen .
I have been a bit down lately since my 2nd jab and not sleeping very well , no energy , really not sure why but that's how it is .
Anyway , I decided on the NRC 'Running towards your goal' run as I thought it might get me back on track for my vitality run !
Coach and Andy P usually help to pick me up again .
Started off at a pace I would normally start a 10k and it actually felt ok but even after 1K i was feeling sluggish, the 2nd K was slightly better but also mostly downhill so not such a good guide !
The rest of the run to be honest just felt so tough!
Tired legs although no difference in my hydration , and despite the encouragement from Andy P, my head was just not in the right place !
I just wanted it to be over !
I literally just plodded on to complete a 5K getting slower and slower π
I know every run can't be a good run and we all have the occasional off day but it's a little disappointing being so close to the vitality run π
Ahh well, it is what it is !
At least it was a run (just)
Here's hoping you all have better runs than this ! π€£π€

Ah Instructor so tough when the body canβt do what you want, it could well be the jab, I had weeks of fatigue after my first, and a very young male runner I spoke to recently said heβd been off his game for 6 weeks after his jab. Hopefully youβll soon be back to full strength, and be able to enjoy your 10k even if you have to go a little slower π€
Itβs tough when we have to grind them out isnβt it? Hereβs hoping that the next run is better - I guess it could be jab related. I have my second jab next weekend, so we will see..π€π
Yes, that was tough βΉοΈGood luck with your jab π€
Some runs can be shit and just have to be forgotten. Might still be from the jab though. And trust me, your 5K is still a LOT faster than my 5K today π
Oh dear, Ian. Iβm sure itβs to do with the jab. Mine was 2 weeks ago and although Iβm not feverish or particularly unwell, Iβm still tired. I dozed off sitting at the table yesterday!
Iβm sure you will be back to your previous form soon enough, but in the meantime just take it steady. Maybe a 20-30 minute run and shelve all thoughts of distance.
I did it the other week. A mind trick! I ran for 5K. Then I pretended I was just starting out on a 5K run. It worked! Iβm so gullible I fell for it! π I worry about myself sometimes.
Herself was "out of it" for about three days after her second Pfizer jab. Feverish and lethargic. She's fine now. (Mine isn't until mid-June and will be the AZ jab.)
Those tough runs happen, that vaccine can take it out of us even if we donβt realise, i had no affects from the second but looking at my stats realised my heart rate was higher for days afterwards so was a bit tired and ran slower, maybe thatβs just it for you. Rest and you will be ok for the vitality 1000
That jabπ€’π€’π€’! I managed to get a 6km run in before my second jab and I'm glad I did. The morning after my jab I felt tired with little energy. I don't think I could have run even if I had wanted to. I'm sure your energy will soon returnπππ.
Sorry to hear your run was tough, I had a similar 5k the other day - although I was super rested, hydrated etc, it was a real struggle. Must be something in the air. The post jab blues arenβt fun, so I hope youβre starting to feel a bit better. I had an interesting conversation with a marathon runner this morning who has years of experience, he said for as long as heβs been doing it, it always seems to be 2 steps forward, 1 back! Niggles, illness, mindset, you name it. Your next run will be AWESOME as my American friend says. All the best! ππββοΈπ¦Ά
At least you got out there, even if it wasnt feeling great, i think any run is a possitive, however long, and speed, i guess we have to just remember before we started this running journey, and how far we've come, i'm sure the runs will improve! π
Oh dear sorry to hear that Ian, make sure you rest up and hope the hip behaves.
It is dreadful isnβt it I hope it passes, Covid fatigue truly is horrendous. π§Έππ΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ Ώπ₯°ππ¦βοΈπΎππ»ββοΈπ§π»βππ±
