I have updated the recent runs page to show how far to the finish line, currently 773km (it is in the Streetview column - don't ask why!). We are currently on track to finish on Saturday. The main run will follow the red line on the map to Cape Point.
Group Run
For the final Group Run over the weekend, from the Museum to the COGH, 5km & 10km distances will be recognised by the system (if it works as intended!). Both will follow the same route, but the 10km runners will follow it out and back. The Group run will follow the blue route on the map to COGH.
RunGo
We are creating a 5km RunGo guided run similar to those Linda created for the HU Spring 10km & marathon (unfortunately, we don't have time to create a RunGo 10km guided run). If you are new to RunGo, please take a look at the instructions that Linda created for the Spring events (ignore the bits about music):
Do have a read and get Rungo and the routes set up in advance of the event. There will be no need to create an account or register any personal details, but you will need your phone when you run.
We suggest you try a practice run in advance to make sure you are familiar with the tech! To do this we have created a short virtual route: HU spring 2021 1Kilometre Try Me which can be accessed via the web using this link
Select and download that route and follow the instructions as outlined in the guide. Although this virtual route is only 1km long, you can keep running and it will quietly wait for you to press stop when you have finished your run!
The 5km COGH virtual route can be downloaded from here:
or search RunGo - Find Routes for Cape of Good Hope Group Run
Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to test it fully, so those who use it on Saturday are the official test team! Let me know of any issues. If you run Sunday or Monday, I suggest that you download it immediately before your run.
Goodness you have all been very busy. I hope it’s ok if I just run my own runs as I always run unplugged. So proud to have been part of this amazing group of runners. Happy running everyone 🤗
Thanks for asking about walking... I'm still banned from running but can definitely manage a 5k walk with my dog! Less confident about whether I can get a grip of the Rungo thing but will try in the morning!
Thanks so much.I was thinking the other day that it would be lovely to have Rungo commentary as for the HU 10k but thought it was too much to ask at such short notice. Amazing , and thanks again.
Obviously I'm a tech idiot - when I go the Recent Runs page it says "sorry unable to open the file at this time" and I don't know what/where the Streetview column is. Can I just continue to post runs/walks? Sorry but I don't understand what we need to do for this last bit.
How exciting Charlies1. It’s certainly a fun playlist - I experienced it in March for the HUHM, and RunGo worked a treat for me too. Can’t wait. Thanks for all your ultra hard work too. It’s been an amazing challenge and I’m going to miss it! 🙏🏻
I am hoping to run 5k on Saturday morning with the team!🤞 It will be slow and steady and a tough run but I will be in great company! Go us!🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🙏🏅🏆xxx
Brilliant! So I can do 10k ...phew! I'm going to attempt my London Vitality 10k on Saturday and was worrying about doing a 5k too!! I will combine the two! Thank you for this extra level you have added. Looking forward to it!
Thank you for this and all the work involved in creating this online relay. It's been brilliant. Silly question from me - at the start of the relay I set myself the challenge of posting a run/walk every day. So far, I have managed this. My final 10k run will be on Monday 31st . Can i still post my walks on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th? I'm guessing that it won't make any difference as if we have crossed the finish line I'll just be running into the sea!! 😁
So amazing, just posted my last 5k.Rungo worked brilliantly thankyou. Also, love that Almorr 5k 50th not parkrun is the final one on map! Really sums up the spirit of the event.
Can I add my congratulations to everyone here! It looks to have been a great event, mutual support and appreciation, really sums up these forums! Well done everyone
