How Far to Go
I have updated the recent runs page to show how far to the finish line, currently 773km (it is in the Streetview column - don't ask why!). We are currently on track to finish on Saturday. The main run will follow the red line on the map to Cape Point.
Group Run
For the final Group Run over the weekend, from the Museum to the COGH, 5km & 10km distances will be recognised by the system (if it works as intended!). Both will follow the same route, but the 10km runners will follow it out and back. The Group run will follow the blue route on the map to COGH.
RunGo
We are creating a 5km RunGo guided run similar to those Linda created for the HU Spring 10km & marathon (unfortunately, we don't have time to create a RunGo 10km guided run). If you are new to RunGo, please take a look at the instructions that Linda created for the Spring events (ignore the bits about music):
The Android version can be found here: docs.google.com/document/d/...
The Apple version here: docs.google.com/document/d/...
Do have a read and get Rungo and the routes set up in advance of the event. There will be no need to create an account or register any personal details, but you will need your phone when you run.
★ Linda created a ‘Try Me’ virtual 1k route so you can test RunGo out: routes.rungoapp.com/route/4...
We suggest you try a practice run in advance to make sure you are familiar with the tech! To do this we have created a short virtual route: HU spring 2021 1Kilometre Try Me which can be accessed via the web using this link
Select and download that route and follow the instructions as outlined in the guide. Although this virtual route is only 1km long, you can keep running and it will quietly wait for you to press stop when you have finished your run!
The 5km COGH virtual route can be downloaded from here:
routes.rungoapp.com/route/H...
or search RunGo - Find Routes for Cape of Good Hope Group Run
Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to test it fully, so those who use it on Saturday are the official test team! Let me know of any issues. If you run Sunday or Monday, I suggest that you download it immediately before your run.
And here is our finishing line:

Don't forget to take a photo or selfie on the final run (in COGH t-shirts if you have one) & post in response to Sue’s post:
