Motivation has been a problem of late - mainly because work has been so hectic and I'm just knackered. But I hadn't run all week so I really needed to get out.
My OH stuck his head in the door of the bedroom at one point - "Are you going for a run?" he said. (He was just back from a 20 mile cycle and I was on my second cup of coffee ....in bed.)
"Yes I'm going out shortly," I replied clicking on the next message on the forum. 30 mins later he stuck his head in the door again and muttered about going for lunch later. I sprang out of bed and jumped into the running gear. Another 30 minutes went by as I dithered about. Finally he lost it: "Will you get OUT!!!!" he yelled. π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£
Anyway, my first headspace run and they were talking about motivation...... A beautiful day on the canal. Glad I finally got out! π

Hi Fiona! I know what you mean about motivation. My knee is less painful now but working is manic at the minute. I know I should get our and I saw the other day it's a year since I graduated. Don't know if it's fear of pain or failure holding me back. π Those headspace runs are good tho xx
Oh dear - work really can suck the energy out of you, can't it? I'm just about to calm down now as its end of semester - although my daughter gets married next week so that does add to the stress a bit! Sola inspired me to try them and that 20 minute one is great. I keep trying to tell myself that I can surely get out even if just for 20 minutes. Doesn't always work though obvs!! π€£π€£π€£ Hope you get back to it soon - I'm missing your posts since we hit the Magic Plan together.
Good on OH for getting you out there! I so know that feeling, especially when work is crazy and there's always something else to do other than run! But it's ALWAYS worth it, isn't it? I have to keep telling myself, just get out there - even if it's for 20 mins, and eventually 20 mins turns into 30 or 40! Keep at it Fionamags. Lovely canal run too πππ
Thanks for the encouragement. You are so right! Every run is a good run according to Coach Bennett. Actually they mentioned a Motivation run - i must look for that one.
Well done for getting out even if you had to be shouted out!! I scraped up some motivation today too (also posted about my lack of it today!!) I was glad I went out too. This forum is great for assisting motivation!
That seems like a very reasonable Sunday morning to me.. a bit of a well-deserved lie-in to relax your brain, and a sunny run.. hope you are enjoying a pleasant lunch now..π
Haha, love it , 2nd coffee in bed and OH done 20 mile ride π€£π€£π€£ so did you get your first cup then wait till he'd done 20 miles for your 2nd ? Bit harsh π€£Well done with the run , looks a nice place for a run π
No I got up, made my brekkie, put second cup in a flask then took it back to bed π. He's always been an early bird so I was in the land of nod while he was slogging up the hills. Yes I did enjoy the Headspace run - just the ticket!! Very glad I got onto the NRC runs - they've all been great so far.
Yes its my favourite place - a bit of an oasis right in the city centre. The offer of lunch was withdrawn as he went for a nΓ p instead. I'm going to put a complaint in - lured out for a run under false pretences. And now dusting and cleaning.
Well done getting out there. Know the feeling of being knackered after work, back after lockdown. Your OH sounds like a sergeant major π€£. Enjoy your daughters wedding π°π
Well done for getting out there Fionamags, ππ»Iβm sure your motivation will return, just think how much happier and fitter you feel after each run, itβs definitely worth the effort, that looks a nice canal path youβve got to run on too. πͺπ»πββοΈ
