1 good 1 bad

Today I finished the 3rd run of week 8 c25k and it went fine, mostly like the first 2 times but earlier this week I had a really horrible run where I tried to do run number 3 but couldn't do it. I got myself out the door but ended up walking after 7 mins. My legs felt tired and I stopped jogging before I even made the decision to stop. It's so strange as I'd already done the run twice so I know I can do it. Have been channeling my inner Sherlock but came up with nothing! Slept ok, had an ok dinner, music on, good time of day. Have came up with nothing. I guess I just need to accept sometimes it's just a bad day but it's not permanent! Glad to have completed it now πŸ˜…

Distance not speed that's the name of the game, I've learnt that has helped me a lot, I'm now running 10k most weeks now with the odd 5k in between, half marathon is my goal before summers out 🀞🀞

Great goal to have! I think your right about the speed thing πŸ‘

It helps me hunni, its not a race I do it for enjoyment, I go at my own pace if I want to go a bit quicker I will, I'm not in it to break record's steady away..

Well done for completing week 8. That’s a huge achievement, running for 28 minutes! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ

Just write off that bad run, you are starting to build up your stamina. Maybe you tried to start off too quickly, maybe you weren’t hydrated enough, we all have those runs. Maybe you suddenly suffered from a lack of confidence.

Remember you aren’t concentrating on speed or pace yet. Just jog slowly. Every run you do is increasing your stamina, good luck with week 9! πŸ‘

Thank you and yes I think you're right. I didn't consider maybe I went too fast! Will try tomo for starting week 9 and make sure of speed. I just had my jag yesterday so will see if any effects of that other than the sore arm at present!

Just had my second jab and had a terrible night! I won’t be running for a couple of days.

Yes, slow and steady is what you should be aiming for. If you feel like it, speed up for the last 60 seconds. Much better to do that rather than set off too fast. Set yourself up for success πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Sorry to hear your getting after effects of the jag. Hopefully you'll feel better soon. Can't believe the ache in my arm today!

I know! But that part I expected. Going back to bed again.

Distance and duration, not speed, as Stocksy67 says.

If you're anything like me, my normal relaxed pace stayed the same for about six months, but once I was doing regular weekly runs of an hour or more, it started to creep faster.

My guess is that you're slightly dehydrated, especially if you had some booze with the dinner.

Yep think this was probably the problem. It didn't occur to me but it was probably a speed/hydration issue. It's just a wee reminder to me not to be complacent and to focus on building up. It really is good to read what others have experienced as in the past I would probably have just quit jogging and assumed I'm just not a runner!

Well done on completing week 8! I have just repeated week 8 as I had a couple of difficult runs and it was good to do it again as it did feel better this week. Make sure you're well hydrated, focus on you're music, what you see around you rather than the time it does help good luck you got this!!

Thanks good advice. It just sucks when I have a run like that. Makes me wonder why I even put my trainers on in the first place!
