I can’t believe I am actually saying this.....I’m on week 9 of C25k 🙌. I wasn’t able to run for a bus before I started and now I’m running for 30 minutes 😁 I’ve always struggled with exercise and being consistent. And now, I’ve almost completed a full training plan, first time EVER, in my life. Who is this person?! 🤣
My friend and I are planning to do half marathon in October so feel the next goal is to move to 10k training then onto half marathon.
I’ve been reading so many articles/posts and I’ve got to say I’m feeling slightly overwhelmed as there’s so much info out there. I’ve came across this group and love hearing all about your journeys. Is there anyone who has a similar story who could guide us on what we can do next in order to achieve our goal?
Thanks in advance 🙏

Welcome! It's possible to go from 5km to 10km in about two months, but I'd suggest keeping at the 30 minute level (consolidating) for a few weeks before moving further.
Similarly, if you have no setbacks, it's possible to go from 10km to a Half Marathon in about two months too.
Getting from 5km to HM in 5 months is going to be tight timing-wise. It's doable, but tight.
When you've graduated there's a nine week plan to take you from 5km to 10km here in the "Bridge to 10k" forum. And then there's a Marathon forum here too.
Thank you Nowster. I read about consolidating but thought I could go straight into another plan. I will take your advice and keep going with the 30 minutes. Hopefully I won’t have any setbacks but will not beat myself up about it if there was. I ended up with Covid at the beginning of this programme which set me back but overcoming it and now achieving the plan has made me even more proud. I’ll look into the other forums too to keep motivated. Thank you 😊
Hello. Well done on your almost graduation from C25K. Nowster is absolutely right, you should spend a bit of time consolidating your 30 min runs, then you could move onto Ju Ju's Magic plan, which has 2 parts. You can either aim to advance to 60 mins, or 10K. I did 60 mins first, then went up to 10k. Hope this makes sense!
Hi! Thank you for your reply which makes ultimate sense 😊 I will follow your advice and go with the 60 minutes after consolidating and then work up to the distance. Well done on your progress, that’s some achievement 👏
Hi well done the guys are right what they say keep up with the 30 min run for a wile get your body use too it, it took me about 2 months to run my first 10k after completing C25K, now I'm doing 10k most of the time now, the next big step is up to half marathon which I wanna do b4 summer hopefully if the old legs hold out lol..
Hi! Defo will take all your advice and keep to 30 mins for a while. I think I’m probably getting too excited and want to run right in 😂 well done on your runs and best of luck with your HM. Rooting for you 📣
Doin great there lauradevennie , remember,
10% increases this could be the distance or time of your running.
Consolidation those 5k runs and then let your legs free to enjoy themselves.
Remember rest days though, vital no matter how energized you feel.
That HM goal easy just keep it going, every run your doing you get better and stronger
Thank you lmc50. Am I correct in saying that the 10% increase is based on the total for that week? E.g. if I was planning to run 30 mins x3 days = 90mins I should add 9 minutes onto the 3rd day, or should it be split over the 3 sessions? I hope that makes sense.
I was going to try for a 30 min 5k then train for 10k but I'm giving myself a fair bit of time to do it! You've got a great goal to do this year with the half marathon. Good luck with the training and it would be great to know what plan works for you!
