Graduated yesterday - big cheer!! Plan to get a few 5k and park runs under my belt. Before starting the programme didn't really think about what I would do after graduating - I didn't really believe that I would get there. I would still like to push myself but not to 10k. I thought about adding a minute or 2 each week perhaps. Is this post graduation fever? Any thoughts? Enjoy your day everyone. ππΌ
Life after C25k: Graduated yesterday - big... - Bridge to 10K
Life after C25k
Congratulations on graduating C25K! Massive achievement, being able to run for 30 minutes. Most graduates find it helpful to make 30-min runs a regular part of their running week for a while, just to get comfortable running this distance, 3 x week. To mix it up and make it interesting there are a number of things you can try:
1. NHS speed and stamina podcasts
2. Nike Run Club app has some nice, manageable guided runs, with a wee bit of coaching and narration from famous runners
3. Zombies, Run! app is a fun accompaniment to your runs!
I wasn't running 5km in 30 mins when I first graduated β more like 4.5km in 30 mins or something like that. So, as got fitter I started to add on a min or two to get to 5k. That was enough of a challenge to start, but I remember being so happy the first time I ran 5k without stopping!
At this time I wasn't interested or ready to start 10km training, and it actually took me around 6 months to feel ready (though lack of confidence was the issue), in reality I found the 5k-10k programme easier than getting to 5km and really enjoyed it β there is something special about long, slow runs!
Most of all, enjoy your new-found, healthy exercise routine!

Hey massive congrats on completing the c25k! I guess enjoy some 5ks for now and then see if you want to push on to 10k as you get more confident?
Or maybe start playing with the speed a bit? π
Thanks πΈ
Well done, I totally agree with everything Sadie says. Enjoy those parkruns, you might get hooked like me.
Well done. πππ Huge achievement and now running is yours to explore! Definitely try parkrun, itβs amazing. Friendly, no pressure, it starts the weekend off perfectly. πππββοΈ
π πWell done Meganpippa. You could use Runkeeper or Strava apps to give you an idea of the distance you are covering. Park runs are great, local running group might be fun, play around with new routes, intervals. Keep us posted!
Congratulations!! Parkruns are good
