Happy Saturday. It is (not)parkrun day again. It is a beautiful calm day here with a beautiful blue sky. We even had a BBQ last night for dinner. Supper is coming. I am looking forward to going out for a 5K run in the next few minutes. I am late starting today as my Sister came up to visit last night. She is going to join me on my run.
For anyone new to this and wondering what this post is all about let me explain. A group of us from here run a 5K and then we pop back to this post afterwards and let everyone know how we got on. It is just a bit of fun, you can walk, jog or run. It is not a race, just a run and you can do it anyway you want.
Enjoy your runs everyone and I hope the weather is lovely where you are too. Happy running.

Good afternoon Damien, it is a lovely day where I am as well, yesterday I ran my 45th (not) parkrun in just over 35 minutes of 35.04, good run for me, perhaps next Saturday I will get another sub 35 minute 5K, enjoy your in the sun.
Thanks TailChaser, I was expecting my run yesterday to be around 35.30 not 35.04 as I had set my metromone app at 170 cadence, not 173 as last Saturday.
Yes I am first today in replying to Damien, I was replying to someone else when I noticed the email from Damien, hence me being in 1st place again., I hope you are having a good day Sue. ๐๐๐พ
Weโre back in lockdown with exercise limited to one hour only ๐ญ - 3 day snap lockdown here in Perth ๐ฆ๐บ so itโs a (not) Park run for me ๐ท
No Pbโs but a solid negative split run so happy with my 5k 6.48, 6.37, 6.16, 6.08, 6.00 ๐๐ป
No (not)parkrun for me this week Damien as Iโm saving my legs for tomorrowโs long run. Next week will be my 50th (official) (not)parkrun so Iโm aiming to complete it in style ๐Hope you had a fab run with your sister. Have a lovely runny week everyone ๐
Hi damienair and running friends. It was my works Parkrun club relay again this week. I ran the last leg for my team, along the promenade at Bognor Regis.
It was sunny but quite windy so quite chilly while I was waiting to start my run at the end of the prom. I had a few issues with Strava at the start but eventually set off at a decent pace, finishing my 5K in 0:30:59 so I was pleased with that.
My team finished with a total time of just over 1:34:00 so not too bad at all. There was even a 3-way photo finish, with 3 out of 5 teams finishing with 5 seconds of each other!๐ณ
Well done and nice running. We have not seen the sea in such a long time. But this afternoon we are going to pop over to Clogher Head and have some fish and chips after a walk along the beach.
5K did on Wednesday @ 45'15''.Today I completed, my first 9K, so very slow. My 5K split was 47'24''. Still keeping an eye on niggles and my back, in my defence. I will have to get up earlier as it is getting warmer - can't complain though, as there was a regular cooling breeze, so I was not a sweaty icky mess at the end - I might have been if I had been quicker.
Can I ask the experts here? When Parkrun does start again, how do you fit in your "Long" run? Do you do these mid-week or alternate a Park Run and a Long Run every other week? Or something else?
Most runners run their long run either at the weekend or midweek, once the parkruns resume it would be best to run your long run mid week if that's possible, running a 5K parkrun on Saturday and running a long run on Sunday might be a bit too much.
It does get easier the longer youโve run though Rennur. Once youโre feeling up to it and 5k doesnโt feel so far youโll find you can run both Saturday and Sunday. You could also bolt a run on either side of parkrun. It might sound like madness now but Iโm sure it will happen ๐
When parkrun was still on I did my long run on a Sunday. I'd do a 5K interval session on Tuesday, a good effort 5K on Thursday, parkrun on Saturday morning and then a nice easy 10K on Sunday.
Good afternoon Damien and fellow runners! Yesterday was the 3rd anniversary of me starting C25k, so I decided to do a celebration 5k and to use it as my (not) parkrun this week, because we were round at friends yesterday for a barbecue having not seen them since September and I knew a bottle or two would be opened. Anyway, it was an absolutely beautiful day again, but not too warm and I had a very comfortable run, but still managed 31.06, so very happy with that. Enjoy the rest of the lovely sunny weather โ๏ธโ๏ธ
Very well done Sandie and super running. Unfortunately I did not have your good sense. My Sister came over and we had a BBQ on Friday night, Spatchcock Chicken. It was amazing and was washed down with homebrewed white wine. So my run yesterday was very tough. Heavy legs.
Lovely weather here today too. I walked a park run distance (actually 6km) on Friday, and tried for a 20+km run today. Spoilers: I had to stop at 14km for a canal lift bridge and found I couldn't start again without it hurting.
It is really warm here today, luckily it was a bit cooler when we did our usual Saturday (not) parkrun route.
I ran 6km again then a 2km walk back up the hill, picking up some eggs from an honesty box on the way. Then a quick stop at home to pick up jackets before heading to the golf course for our 2nd breakfast.
I am still Jeffing, I have changed the ratio to 3.5 minutes running, 30 seconds walking which suits me better somehow. I will try that a couple more times then change to 4:30 and see how that goes.
Strangely I was finding myself hoping I was near 3 minutes and due a walk, but for some reason that isn't happening now that I am running the 3.5 minutes. My time seems to be improving but I think that is because I like the prompts to do something different (in truth I am probably still missing Laura, even though it is nearly 5 years since I started C25K). But it is definitely better for my legs, they don't feel as tired during or after the run).
Well done. I am kind of doing the same at the moment too. I was running for 2-2.5K then walking for 500 meters and running walking again. I feel I am getting stronger again. Slow, but slow and steady. I am able to run for 3 to 3.5K at the moment without a little walking break.
You deserve to be a "A happy bunny" LottieMW, well done on that run and that 48.15% age grading, I am sure it won't be long until you get a 50% or more age grading,
Hi Damien and everyone! ๐ Yes, BBQ season is upon us - weโre having one tomorrow for Mr Cheekyโs 60th birthday which is on Monday. ๐ ๐
I thoroughly enjoyed my (not) PR again this week because I continued with my new found fun of combining it with JogRunSprint and got a 2nd fastest Strava 5k time of 33:59 - I even love Strava bling, Iโm that easy to please! ๐ Iโm not sure if I can continue doing it when real PR starts up as Iโll have my dog attached to me! ๐
Itโs so good to see results and it makes me enjoy my rather uninteresting course more too.
Hi Damien and all (not) parkrunners! As you may have seen from Dexy5 's post of yesterday, I joined the Southsea crew for this week's (not) parkrun along the prom and despite a fierce easterly wind, was rewarded with 28.42 - and of course, some excellent company!๐
Great time Jonathan and very well done. I will hopefully see you and the rest of the Southsea crew someday. I was doing the Compass Challenge for parkrun, I've done Westport and Eastville. I need a North and a South next. So I'll be planning to get my South at Southsea parkrun.
Hello damienair, I hope you had a lovely meet up and run with your sister.
Following on from JonathanP โs post. Yes we had a great (not) parkrun yesterday in our group of 6! Whoop whoop. I ran with UpTheStanley which resulted in a top 4 (not) parkrun time of 32.46, with negative splits.
It was the first time weโve seen JP since September so that was great, and as usual we had breakfast afterwards.
My biggest concern is that once they finally restart parkrun in Scotland (still no indication as to when that might be) actually remembering to stop at 5k might be a problem.
Saturday has become my long run day when I'm typically out for anything from about 12.5k to HM. My average distance for 2021 so far is 11.5k and the last time I ran under 10k was back in January!
I terms of building endurance/distance, lockdown has, perversely, been great for me, but I have a horrible feeling trying to pace a 5k could go horribly wrong the first few times I try it again.
Nice to hear from you again sTrongFuse, I don't think that there is any danger on not knowing when to stop when parkruns in Scotland resume, on the last 30 metres at any parkrun you can't help noticing all the volunteers, the funnel and people with stop watches, so no danger of you running past all that, perhaps you could make your long run on a Sunday.
And after getting caught up in the initial excitement on the start line and pegging off at a pace far faster than your longer run pace you'll be begging for the 5K finish line.๐
