Happy Saturday. It is (not)parkrun day again. It is a beautiful calm morning here I am looking forward to going out for a 5K run in the next hour.
For anyone new to this and wondering what this post is all about let me explain. A group of us from here run a 5K and then we pop back to this post afterwards and let everyone know how we got on. It is just a bit of fun, you can walk, jog or run. It is not a race, just a run and you can do it anyway you want.
Enjoy your runs everyone and I hope the weather is lovely where you are too. We are even planning on doing a winter BBQ this evening.

Good morning Damien, this morning was my 37th Virtual and 24th (not) Parkrun, weather bright and sunny with a temperature of 2C.
I started my run just after sunrise, still a little dark, that made some of the Christmas lights and a little Christmas Tree in some gardens seem nice and bright before the sun got too high in the sky and before the owners put the lights off.
The run was very enjoyable, I only saw a few dog walkers and 2 other runners, this morning my time was 33.35, enjoy your run๐๐พ๐
Well done Alan. Gosh you were up early. I still have not yet done my run. I was out in the garden tidying things up and raking up the fallen leafs. I will be going soon.
I am so happy that you are now back to normal again after that Covid 19 scare you had recently, good run you had this morning despite the poor weather.
Thanks Al. Oh yes Iโm fine thankfully. In fact I never once felt unwell, and now that I can taste and smell again I feel slightly awkward saying Iโve had Covid knowing that so many people fare far worse.
Hi Damien, enjoy your run. Did a Jeffing 5k this morning in 41.42. It was my second post IC run after three weeks off. My first run was on Wednesday. Sitting on the bed icing my peroneal tendon whilst typing this. I had a few niggles but not enough to stop me running. I have bought some compression socks to see if they will help. Happy running everyone ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ป๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ป
Good morning Damien & all. Miserable, cold, dreary and damp and it chucked it down on our cool down walk. But I seem to suit these conditions so it was a good run.
I think Iโve finally sorted out my watch/bpm problems and come to a few other decisions this week so rested and relatively relaxed. Also had to fit in the 1km Speed Challenge. So totalled at 28:18 but got 1km and 1 mile PBs because of that.
Together with 13/15 on the parkrun quiz itโs been a good morning, and Iโm picking a SAD lamp up this afternoon so it will be a good morning tomorrow as well ๐
Well done on your amazing 13/15 at the parkrun quiz today ๐คฉ and then you followed it up with a speed challenge/parkrun . Greatest respect, as when I did my 1km challenge I had to stop and breathe before doing anything else.
Thank youโ Itโs been a good day Dexy after starting to feel things were going a bit wrong. I never know what to expect either running or the parkrun quiz! Donโt forget youโre probably still getting your fitness back so to do it at all is a big deal that Iโm not sure Iโd be brave enough to do ๐
Ha Ha. I Know. The 2 boys asked for home made beef burgers over the weekend. I said sure, I l would love one too. Only one way to cook them, and that's on a charcoal BBQ. I have managed to cook a BBQ in the rain before, that's why I bought one with a lid. ๐
Hi Damien and all (not) parkrunners, it was cloudy but quite mild down on the South coast at 9.00 so no need for base layer - but wore my 50 parkruns t-shirt to keep my spirits up! A few other runners around our local roads this morning. First 4 x 1ks were 6 min or just over, so put on a spurt for the last one coming in at 5.39, making 29.49 in total. Roll on Monday for the speed challenge !๐
It's a gorgeous day here but I did my not parkrun on Thursday this week with my social bubble UpTheStanley and Oldgirlruns . Unusually, the wind was coming from the north-east, so a bit chilly, but we took advantage of a bit of a push on the homeward stretch. However, I hadn't taken into account the fact that my 1k speed challenge on Tuesday would still be in my legs so a bit of jeffing was required in 4k.๐ฉ It didn't seem to do me any harm though as my last km was my best as I was trying to keep up with an overtaking runner. It was just like a real parkrun! So a time of 33:21 for me; not bad at all. I think I will do a nice long slow run tomorrow! ๐ค
Can I also say Thank You to whoever it is that has enabled emojis and tags on the reply boxes on the website. It is now much easier to add them when using our PC.
I have been experimenting with those new emojis, not just on my laptop but they are also working on my Smartphone, like congratulations or administrators or graduate to runners who have graduated, it reminds me of when I got my new Smartphone, my previous Smartphone didn't have those features.
Hello damienair and (not) parkrunners! I'm waving hello from slightly relaxed lockdown conditions in France, where I sort of ran 5k this morning.
By that I mean I ran 2k at a reasonable pace, followed by a crazy 1k for the Speed Challenge, after which I stopped Strava and walked for seven minutes before restarting Strava and finishing off with another slow 2k run home. Running time was 30:31 for 5.02k but as I had a break in the middle I'm not counting it.
Was lovely to be able to run more than 1k radius from home for the first time in four weeks
๐๐๐ for your not parkrun and speedy 1k cmoi. The 1k radius rule must have been very difficult. I walk 700m before I run so well done you for keeping up your running during your lockdown.
Thanks Dexy5 , that's kind of you. I hadn't started running when we were last locked down, so the 1hr/1k rule was incredibly frustrating. It's been fine for me to go shopping, and to work as a teacher and examiner with students from across France - obviously wearing masks and using quantities of hand gel and disinfecting spray. But running alone, outdoors, in the back of beyond, for more than 1hr/1k from home? Nope! ๐คฏ
No run for me today, I have a sick note from my 94 year old mother!! Sure my physio will sort my calf out on Monday. I still managed a bracing beach walk with Mrs BC plus canine. For bracing read โcoldโ. !!๐
Oh what a fab idea๐๐๐๐. Oh and you can walk part of it also..didn't realise. I'm not at the 5k mark yet..but this would be great. How often do you do this,? Thanks for posting ๐๐. ๐ข๐๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ฆ
Hey hello and welcome. Just like the real parkrun we do this every Saturday. Yes you can do it anyway you want. Run and walk or any combination. Great to have you onboard. Keep a look out and join in with us next week.
Greetings fellow ๐๐๐. Ran a really nice 7.5k this morning in sunny Spain, with my 2nd best 5k time of 38m 54. Chuffed to finally be under the 40 min mark on the 5k's.
I thought Iโd post here although it wasnโt strictly my (not)parkrun day ; that was done on Thursday with my support bubble of Dexy5 and UpTheStanley (and a PB but we wonโt dwell on that!) But I thought this afternoon might be an opportunity to do a nice slow slightly longer run. The sun was out and the weather quite mild and, of course if I go today, it means I can lie in tomorrow morning! Bargain! I avoided the seafront which I suspect was really busy and stuck to the housing estate heading towards a marina and the little ferry that goes over to Hayling Island. The plan (yes, I did have one for a change๐) was 6km or one hour, whichever came first. As it happened, the two more or less coincided for a total of 6km in 1hr 38 Secs. Well I said it was slow! But I could sneak in another (not)park run time of 50:36 for 5km couldnโt I?! A chat with my neighbour as I finished my cool down walk home and straight into a hot shower. Lovely!
Good decision Oldgirlruns , the prom was absolutely chockablock. We went for a walk up from Mountbatten and it was lovely in the sunshine, so I am having to get up tomorrow morning!
Morning everyone! Sorry Iโm a day late this week, but yesterday was grey and miserable and I couldnโt be bothered. This morning is still grey and miserable, but, with the promise of a full English cooked by Mr S, I headed out for my 3rd run this week. Still not really feeling all that motivated, but 32.48 was an ok time. Brekkie was delicious ๐
Sorry I'm a day late. I had a rest day yesterday as I had a virtual race planned today. I ran 10 miles this morning, so I suppose 3 and a bit (not) parkruns in a time of 1 hour 41 mins.
I was meant to be doing an easy paced 5k for my HM plan today, but after lots of slow runs (I am mostly sticking to the pace guidelines) I found I really wanted to go a bit faster today, so ended up doing 28:58. Lovely sunny day, ventured up one of my favourite farm tracks and it was almost dry.
