Grateful I didn’t come across these today on my run !! Wild animal (sculptures) photographed at the Tower of London yesterday on my first venture into the city centre for a good while (only a 30 min bus - 20 if no traffic !). Was very quiet, earily so. I quite liked it...
So today’s run was planned as the NRC ‘grateful 8k’ with coach Bennett - I felt it was a good enough distance after 10k last week - no need to kill myself with another 10k ! But on my warm up I felt a new twinge - my hip ! Oh no, what’s going on? I decided I’d Jeff instead, so set my alert back on (60:30). To be honest I didn’t find coach Bennett’s banter so motivating this time, maybe just not in the mood. But at one point he told me to write up my notes from the runs - what am I grateful for ? And I was thinking of all sorts of things but one was this forum - which has been hugely helpful, informative, motivating, and fun !! What a great community.
At one point during the run I got an incoming text that had to be responded to (very rarely do they), and I didn’t realise immediately that I had inadvertently paused the NRC app. By the time I noticed I was at least 700 metres further on than the app. Also I was feeling quite strong and could tell my 1minute running pace was faster than my usual long distance speed, and I didn’t try to go fast but neither did I try to slow down. So I thought maybe I’d go for 10k, see how jeffing 10k compared with last week’s non stop run. It worked ok. By the time coach Bennett had finishing wittering on at the end of 8k, my Garmin was showing nearly 9k, and so it was easy to decide to jeff another 1k... in the end, I knocked 4mins off last week’s 10k. Hurrah ! Grateful 10k. Grateful for coach Bennett, and for coach Jeff !! And for everyone on this forum.
Happy Easter !
