Like many others on here and elsewhere I’m celebrating my first Runniversary. Lockdown gave me the chance to run, something I never really considered possible. I was 67, felt quite fit, active in other ways, including Morris dancing, but not a runner. I’d volunteered at our Parkrun for a couple of years, initially to support my wife. I enjoyed that and was full of admiration for all the runners, but not for me. I started Couch to 5K on a newly bought treadmill on 3 April, graduating 9 weeks later, able to run just over 3k. I’m still at it now, up to regular 10k runs, participating in the COGH relay and today ran my fastest 5K - 27.46. I’m amazed! Thanks to my wife and younger daughter for their constant support and the people on here, who continue to inspire me.
Sorry for the lengthy post, but I was feeling quite emotional!!

amazing progress! I'm 6m in and my next goal is to do 5k in under 30mins, something I never thought possible and I'm likely half your age. Never done a parkrun before, looking forward to it!
Thanks very much. You don’t want to be hurting yourself. I count myself lucky that so far - touch wood - I have been injury-free. Long may it continue!
