Unexpected 60 minute run

I set out for my morning run planning to run for my usual 30 to 40 minutes, on country lanes and pavements around the village. I don't normally plan my route and tend to chose my direction based on how many walkers, school children etc are around. After about 2k it felt a bit of a struggle and I could easily have given up, but decided to explore a farm track I had not run on for many months because of the mud. I followed this, enjoying the sun and the sound of skylarks before turning round when the mud hit too bad. I continued my steady plod round the village and only stopped when I needed to go through a narrow alley back to the road, and had to wait for some mums returning from the school drop off. I thought I had run over 6k but was pleasantly surprised to find I had actually run 7.8k and had run for 60 minutes! It just shows what is possible if you go with the flow and enjoy the run without the pressure of targets.
