Stepping stones run

Another woodland trail run for me this morning on my quest to get back to 5k. I’m sticking to the 10% rule when increasing my distances, making today a 3.5k.

It was dry when I set off, but the ground is still water-logged in places. I found this little stream, which has sprung up during the wet weather, on my route today. It’s usually dry here, but someone had kindly placed some wooden stepping stones to get across.

The rain was starting again as I headed home and I have to admit that today was a bit of a push, short distance though it was, and my legs felt a bit heavy. I need to up my water intake - I’ve been a bit forgetful on that front. 💧🙄

Happy running everyone 😊🏃🏼‍♀️

Great Running Hidden looks like a super trail route! Definitely drink that water, probably moreso as the weather's warming up now!!!

Yes - advice heeded. I’m normally good but know over the past few days it’s been more coffees to keep me going whilst working outside in the garden. Water doesn’t warm you up the same!

When I saw the title on this it reminded me of the stepping stones podcasts, I really loved some of those.I love your woodland run posts it always looks such a wonderful place to run and now with added obstacles 😂👍

Sorry you've got rain it's gorgeous weather up here in Yorkshire, washing is on the line and I'm off into the garden x

Stepping stones! Yes! I listened to the first of those runs but the music put me off, so I didn't do them, but they do get a good mention on here. I ran without music again today, but the birdsong and the trees were much quieter than of late. The damp drizzle seems to have hushed everything. I'm just about to head out on another wet dog walk, but hopefully after today we will have sunnier weather down here in the South Downs. There's few places more lovely when the sun is shining, apart from Yorkshire that is - we lived just outside York for a few years many moons ago...... 😊. Enjoy the sunny weather in your garden.

I worked in York until I decided to pack it in back in 2019. I do miss the countryside of the South of England there are some beautiful places

Great you got out, lovely photo of your new stream 🤣 take it easy, maybe slow down a bit, you will get back to where you were before. Happy running 🤗

Thank you GH. I’ll take my time and am quite enjoying having taken the pressure off 😊. I might go hunting for more little streams in the woods 😊🏃🏼‍♀️ 🌲

Ooo how pretty Delly. 🥰 Trails are lovely aren’t they, albeit often hard work. Yes, adequate hydration is really important (says the person who’s also really bad at drinking enough!) Now the weather is warming up at last it’s even more so.

Happy spring running. 🌸

I’ve had my water on my desk this afternoon whilst I’ve been working. 😇💧 😊

I've been exactly the same - forgetting to hydrate and stretching as well! Eek!

I think part of the trouble with getting the distance in is that we were doing way longer distances and may have possibly distorted memories of how fab that felt. I was beating myself for struggling with a 30 minute run - but realised that 'struggling' was rather over egging it.

I've given myself a talking to and am going to press on with longer runs now that I know that I can talk for Scotland while doing 5k!!! It was just pure distraction!!!!

Maybe ye olde gremlins are using new tactics on us now D-D??

You could be right about those gremlins Fionamags. I’m looking forward to the sunshine and longer runs too 😊☀️🏃🏼‍♀️

Lovely little stream even if just for a short time. Well done for getting back to 3.5k. I’m building back up too after covid and am back to 3k. I’m looking forward to being able to travel so I can get back on the trails. 😊. I’m waiting for my hubby to recover enough to get back on his bike too then we can go together. He’s getting there. Just a gentle walk for us today.

Well done to you too. Coming back after COVID must be tough, but it sounds like your recovery runs are going well. Enjoy your walking and hopefully you will soon have your hubby for company too. 😊
