Nice 3k walk, just thought as the sky is blue Id share a photo of the river, lots of people and sadly lots of rubbish in the verges but then even more people by a coffee camper van thing, so many have sprung up lately and great for them to earn money but does encourage crowds and rubbish, otherwise a nice walk out

Thanks Al, how are you doing after your vaccine?

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply toSueAppleRun

Last Saturday, 13th February I got my first Covid 19 vaccination, it was the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine, about 90 minutes later my left arm felt a little sore but after 3 hours the soreness had gone, but to return for a short while 48 hours later on Monday, again the soreness didn't last long, on Saturday evening I felt a little shivery but that didn't last long when I put the Central Heating a little higher, no sore head or nausoa. Not sure when the second vaccination will be, it should be before the 13th May.

That’s so good to know, amongst the people i know who’ve had the vaccine, after effects are varied

That is great that you had your vaccine Al 👏👏

The after-effects weren't too bad.

Lovely blue sky - shame about the rubbish 😕

Well it’s part of people going out isn’t it? but it didn’t really ruin our walk

in reply toSueAppleRun

I carry a plastic bag, and id I see any rubbish on the way out (I run a linear path there and back up to now) I collect it and bin it on the way back. Admittedly there isnt too much out in the country, only bits of plastic and beer cans!! I dont do it to be good, or for the people who throw it down, I cant bear the thought of wildlife getting it in their tummies.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to

Thank you fir doing this, we will pick up rubbish but for part of our walk yesterday we would both have needed black bin bags and we weren’t there for that, we often get back from beach walks with handfuls of plastic but don’t usually go to such busy places

It’s a lovely place. My daughter was there a few weeks ago, and took some lovely sunset photos.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toLottieMW

Yes it is, it was too busy the town side so we did half crossed the bridge then turned round and walked back

Looks glorious - and I can’t see the rubbish thankfully (good bit of photography there!) We get similar in our park. When running early, I can see that there have been get togethers overnight. What struck me today was the efforts most of these folks had gone to to put their rubbish in the bins.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toGailXrunning

It’s good to see full bins, i think part of the problem is more people are out and about and having drinks and snacks, there’s always a percentage of people who drop their rubbish, the more people the more rubbish

Thanks for sharing, so lovely to see blue sky! It seems to have been grey here forever, although, this afternoon the greyness was brighter than usual so I know the sun and blue sky will return!

Lovely photo. Shame about the rubbish. It's the sad result of more people being out and about who wouldn't normally spend time outdoors like that. Couple that with the increase in take-away teas and coffees in single use disposable cups and it creates the perfect storm.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toBirdlady64

It certainly does and is sad but it’s good that the weather is better and people can get out, youngsters particularly are fed up of being shut in and not able to see their friends, let’s hope this is the last lockdown

My 7 yo quite rightly said on a walk the other day how awful it was to see lots of litter lying around. She asked if we could get a litter picker so we can clear the rubbish away. Really proud of her

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toIndielass00

Aww that is a child to be proud of, what i can’t understand though is where the litter pickers are? it’s an outside job that supports social distancing

Indielass00 profile image
Indielass00 in reply toSueAppleRun

Yep that’s true and enjoy the fresh air . I’m going to buy a couple of those litter picking contraceptions she wants so we can do it. She went onto say she wished everyone could be respectful in looking after our world and how much better it would be. I’m really proud she is so thoughtful about looking after 🌎. She’s learnt loads about climate change and pollution at school and from us and it’s great that it sinks in .

What a beautiful picture and lovely place to go for a walk. The blue sky looks so beautiful. Wonderful that the weather is improving, brings such hope and joy.

Such a shame about the rubbish.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to9weeks2Run

Yes hope and joy is what we need, I guess there will always be people who drop rubbish and people who pick it up

Yes indeed. Spring will soon be here. I can’t wait, it is such a beautiful season.

Yes thank God there are lots of wonderful people who do.

Today I can smell the lovely fresh air and also the coffee 😁 it would make a difference if it was significantly cheaper to buy coffee using your own cup, but we have to wait for COVID to be well under control for that to be an option again. Great photo of a beautiful place for your run yesterday 😁👍

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toLittleoyellow

Thank you, yes the coffee did smell good, It’s lovely along the river but has got so busy as has everywhere else

It will pass in time 😬 as no running for me atm I'm just about to go for a 20 minute walk and then make myself a nice coffee ☕ I'll clink virtual cups with you! Cheers ☕👍
