Iβm catching up with yesterdayβs papers and found this great article by Peta Bee in The Times. Itβs a great read if you can enlarge the photo enough. If not, her main points are summarised below and itβs good news for slow runners everywhere π π’π.
π ππΌββοΈrunning slowly makes you a better runner π
π π’shuffling prevents injury and strengthens knees π¦΅πΌ
πitβs okay to have two pairs of running shoes π π β (or more perhaps πππ)
π§πΌββοΈππΌββοΈ stretching, weight-lifting and strengthening your core all helps π
Thank goodness !! Actually, I started slow running, small steps about 6 months ago. Stopped worrying about getting faster as I felt , at 65, it wasnβt going to happen. Just did 3 runs a week, between 20-35 minutes. Really enjoyed not feeling exhausted and, guess what ? Got faster. How did that happen ?
Well that's a relief π and good to think about as I'm being overtaken by determined faced runners who don't look like they're having any fun at all π
