So, it would seem that the best way to shake off the gloom and despondency of having not managed to get out and run for a couple of days is, quite simply, to get out and run...
Wasn't really sure how far I'd manage when I set out after work, but it seemed that my legs were keen to make up for having had a couple of days off (from running at least, they'd walked more than 20km over the weekend) and I quickly just fell into a rhythm and off I went.
5k came and went easily enough; 10k wasn't especially tough, so I just kept going.
It had been threatening to start raining pretty much from the beginning and as I hit the 14k, it became less of a threat and more of a promise, but despite the fact I was more or less passing my front door at that point, my legs were not for giving up and I carried on through to the 10 mile mark in my second best time of 1:52:44.
So, on the whole, I good run to get back out there with...
Thank you to everyone for the kind messages of support yesterday when i wasn't quite feeling myself, it was very much appreciated.

Good run and time for you sTF, better to get out there for the moment before running goes the same way as rugby and other sports which have all stopped.
That really is amazing.....I can not imagine running for almost 2 hours (currently pushing myself to 1 hour with JuJu) but then like you not do long ago 3 minutes felt like a crazy challenge. Inspirational!
Wow that's a real turn around from yesterday. I'm so very happy for you. What a great run, great distance, great time but most of all great progress on beating those negative thoughts. Happy running 🤗
I often have dips at the weekend when I've fewer things to keep my mind occupied. I think this weekend where my tournament got cancelled and then I got notified that Kilomathon is postponed just knocked me out of kilter by unexpectedly giving me more free time than I planned, and no real alternatives to occupy me.
Anyway, life goes on and we just have to muddle through as nest we can.
And muddle through you did. Glad you got out and also that you posted at the weekend about how you were feeling. Lay down a promise to yourself now about one good thing you'll do next weekend because this will get a whole lot worse before it gets better. 🤗
I already know my rugby for this Saturday is off, so my non-running evenings will be spent making sure my bike is road/trailworthy again so I can get out and do something different.
Wow, and you came back strong...that's a heck of a good run! 😊👍
I've only done a few 10 mile runs but I've loved them, it's certainly a distance to be proud of when the old legs decide it's the right time...well done 😁
