I traded my slippers for my trainers again today and took another step towards increasing my distance.
MyMojo was onside and quite keen to get out as soon as all the morning jobs were finished - husband out doing COVID vaccine marshalling, teenagers dropped off at their weekend jobs, food shopping done and dog walked ✅. I suddenly realised I had time (and the house) to myself - such a rarity at the moment.
I headed out just before lunchtime to the woodland trails on the common. I knew it would be quieter here and easier to dodge around people than the pavements on the edge of town, but probably rather wet underfoot after this week's rain. It was 11 degrees, rather breezy and over-cast with a little bit of rain on my return, but a very enjoyable run. My only plan was to increase my distance a little more to around 3k.
I deliberately left my music and headphones at home and instead enjoyed the sound of the wind in the pines. Standing water completely covered my route in a few places and I had to skirt the edges, hanging on to the greenery to avoid slipping into the water. Wellies would have been more practical! Funnily the blue on my route map shows where I slowed down and corresponds with all the water 😆.
So, MyMojo is satisfied with the 3.1k I achieved and my slippers are back on. I just have a little bit of "me time" left to enjoy my peaceful house now... that is until they all come home wanting fed..... 🥰.

Thanks Ian. I do love running along the trails. There are so many of them I can make up all manner of routes and not get bored. I am a little limited by the recent rain and mud just now, but when the drier weather comes I shall be in my element 😀🏃🏼♀️🌲🌳

That's so similar to my running around my area, the trails are limitless, the only hazard is the severity of the hills 🙂
It's a lovely place to run - ?I think we have compared our similar routes before and realise we are not too far away from each other? 😊. It's rather squelchy and a slippy-slide at the moment though, and some trails are a completely no-go unless you fancy a tough-mudder, which I don't! Happy running 😊🌲🌳
Yes, mine are the same - last weekends 12k was extremely hard work but then I did go for the ‘tough mudder’ option! Planning to go a little further tomorrow so will be looking for ‘kinder’ route! 🙂
Lovely run DellyD - those trails look gorgeous despite the water and mud. Not long now till we get better weather then we'll be back to our glorious 10k form....I hope. 🤞
I'm glad you've managed to sit the gremlins back in the box 👍 Yes that water looks a bit too big for the puddle jumping technique.I miss the sound of the wind blowing through pine trees, I grew up with it, there are a couple in a garden nearby and I love hearing it 😍
Well done on your walk. It was the walking that kept me going a few weeks back. Thank goodness for my dog 🐶 🐾😊. You’ll be into your trainers when you’re ready. Take your time, the runs will wait ☺️🤗
The weather forecast for next week certainly seems very spring-like here. I shall be heading into the garden as well as the woods! Good luck with all your training 🤗
Gorgeous run, it sounds like! But running without music 😱, that would be for me very scary still! But your route sounds as if it had music all of its own! 👍🏽
I completely agree Dups. Running without the music really helps me to switch off, but other times I enjoy it. A fellow runner posted about running to classical music a while back, so I might try that. 🎧😊
Well done DD a great run for you. Hope you managed some more me time later on in the day too. I’ve got grandchildren today and had them overnight ( therefore very little sleep for me) so won’t try to get out till tomorrow I’ll have given my hips a 4 day rest so 🤞I’ll get to 3 k too. 🙏😀
