Nice, comfortable, much needed run today, pain in thigh/groin, not too bad, once i got going, slower than usual, usual route past harry potter, then down onto the canal, quite a few other people out walking/ running, but not too bad, anyway, a good hour out running, to help forget other things, if only briefly.

Hope others have been able to get out today, with more snow on the way. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Glad you managed to get out Peter and that your thigh is holding out. Slow and steady ... be kind to yourself at this difficult time.

Thanks Lifluf, will keep to shorter runs, for a bit, well, no 10k's anyway, they can wait. ๐Ÿ‘

Nice run for you today Peter44, I am glad that the pain isn't too bad, I did go a run this morning, however, my right leg is still a little sore, not too bad during the run but gets quite sore when I finish, I'll rest it for the rest of the day ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพ.

Hope your legs not too bad Al, mine was ok, once i got going, not too bad now, even had a short walk this afternoon too, thought that might help. โ˜บ

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Peter44

During the winter months I usually go a long walk in a Sunday morning, tomorrow I will go a slightly shorter walk, my leg at the moment isn't too bad but I would not fancy another run until at least next Wednesday.

Great 7k, glad the pain is easing and you found the run a temporary relief from worry. Lucky you with the sun, we are in the midst of the Scottish weather warning so getting my 7k without being drowned and blown away was a real bonus. Take care and happy running ๐Ÿค—

Thanks GH, weatherwise here, probably the calm, before the storm, you tough scotts, must be used to it ๐Ÿ’ช glad you got your 7k in today, i'm going to stick to shorter runs this month, probably a bit too much in jan!

Yorkshire is beautiful! Parents still live there and missing my mum loads. My youngest child is changing so much. Not seen them since last summer. Hoping things improve so we can visit. I am feeling better thanks though. Lots of dancing to music in the kitchen! โ˜บ๏ธ x

Thatโ€™s so hard to contend with ๐Ÿ˜ž two of my besties had babies during lockdown. One is fast approaching a year old and sheโ€™s yet to meet her grandparents. Itโ€™s so sad ๐Ÿ’— I do hope things are looking brighter by springtime. Dancing and running in the meantime are good for the soul ๐Ÿ’›โ˜บ๏ธ

Iโ€™m lucky that me and my OH drive so we could go over last year. But my brother and his wife canโ€™t so my mum hasnโ€™t seen him and my niece for over a year. Mums finding it really difficult. I know people have had it a lot worse but it still doesnโ€™t take away the fact we miss each other.

Iโ€™m hoping to run Friday ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป, all being well.

I love music so the dancing and walking will have to do until then and youโ€™re right they are good for the soul โ˜บ๏ธ

Peter44 profile image

Yes, same here, quite a comfortable distance, even after a week of, but kept it slow, which i suppose is quite normal for me, are you able to get outside for some runs? ๐Ÿค”

Bambi2020 profile image
Bambi2020Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

Yeah Iโ€™ve been out today and Tuesday - 6K each time-finding it a big change getting used to being back running outside though rather than on the treadmill- thought it would be just the same but finding it tiring and making my muscles ache

Thanks CC, was good to get out for the run today, even went for a walk this afternoon, for some more head space. Very up and down really, had a call from nurse, at my mums care home, saying she's now at end of life stage, not really eating, or drinking, was aloud to see her yesterday, which was nice, but also very sad. ๐Ÿฅฒ

Hey.. glad to hear you got out for a nice easy 7k in the sun ๐Ÿ˜Ž and even better, your thigh and groin issues are not holding you back from running. I am missing my regular runs, still on the IC here.. physio orders to rest and rehab my shin splints for another 3wks ๐Ÿฅบ but I did get out for a 5k walk to enjoy the best of the weather, and watch all the runners enviously!!! Ahhh ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Runforurlife

Ah, there you are, was wondering where you'd got to, sorry to hear your still not able to run โ˜น if i'm honest, i could've done with a longer rest, as a bit achey now, not sure really if it's groin, thigh, or hip ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ was just in the need of a run today, and while out, no pain really. With snow coming, will probably have some more rest anyway this week. You'll be itching to get back, after this time out, but nice to get some walks in. ๐Ÿ‘

Runforurlife profile image
RunforurlifeGraduate10 in reply to Peter44

Hee hee, yes here I am! Have been lurking a bit and feeling sorry for myself but yesterday I got on with the physio exercises and am making a plan. 3wks of rest and rehab and I hope to make some tentative baby gazelle steps back, as Bambi suggested ๐Ÿ˜Š Hope your thigh and groin strain issues go away but sounds to me like you need to do some rehab and stretching too! There are loads of good programs to find on YouTube etc. Iโ€™m now spending 30mins every morning just on stretching and it is really helping (I hope!) Boring as obvs Iโ€™d much rather be out on a run but Iโ€™ve realised I canโ€™t have one without the other as well as strength training so Iโ€™m forming a new plan every Sunday for the week, quite busy!

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Runforurlife

Thanks, i'll have a look at those stretches, although i have an idea i might have over stretched, after a run, and dont laugh at this โ˜น think i felt something, in groin area, as i got out of bath, after one of my long runs, maybe the 10 miles โ˜น we've not had much snow here yet, but will have another 2/3 day rest, then see how it is. ๐Ÿค”How long have you been out now?

Runforurlife profile image
RunforurlifeGraduate10 in reply to Peter44

Well, sounds to me like you need to be careful and give yourself a bit of time off to rest that groin niggle and incorporate some very gentle stretching if it feels ok to do so. Maybe with this wintry weather now itโ€™s a bit easier not to overdo it and take it slowly this week.. Weโ€™ve had snow today in south London but itโ€™s not settled too much, more coming tomorrow! Itโ€™s 3wks today since my last run ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ I feel like a big part of my life is missing, weird?! My new physio said I was running too much so when I get back to it, Iโ€™ll build up from one run a week to two max I think (if Iโ€™m lucky)!

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Runforurlife

I know I probably did a bit too much in jan, I was doing 10k's for fun, but although they felt pretty comfortable, was obviously a bit much too soon, it's a shame really, as could really do with running at the moment, but I'll be sensible.Sounds like a good plan, for your return, taking it slowly.
