Today, thanks to Peter pointing out that I needed one more run in January to reach the 100 miles in a month, I headed out for a slow relaxed run. Chilled and happy Mr Blue Sky style music, listening to Coach B and Eliud Kipchoge on NRC. Can you believe that guy almost ran a marathon in 2 hours! Missed it by 25 seconds๐ฑ!
Unplanned route, cold but sunny day, felt really relaxed the whole way and really enjoyed the run, lots of fellow runners out there and gave them all a cheery good morning and thumbs up as most like myself are blasting music ๐คฃ
My month ends 11km run, 161km for the month that's 100 miles! Not bad when only running every other day ๐๐
Have a great Sunday everybody!
What's your January totals?

Fingers crossed your fit again soon ๐ค๐ป yeah not having a hangover certainly makes running easier! ๐คฃ I used to look forward to drinking but only socially with friends, lockdown has limited access to friends and therefore I'm not really missing drinking. May knock out a dry February too ๐ค
Iโve done 100.9km this month but it was tough going in the Aussie heat. Iโm a member of a local running club and the number one on the leaderboard has done 165.71km this week ๐ช๐ปโค๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
Wowzer! That's crazy distance! Especially in the heat! I'm still new so only running every other day to give myself plenty of recovery time. Well done on your 100+ month too ๐๐ป
Well done Jericho, on both achievements ๐โโ๏ธ๐ป that's a great total, hope the calf is ok ๐๐. Will be going out for my last jan run soon, then plan to rest for a few days, get rid of these aches/niggles.
I've also done a dry jan, but dont drink alot anyway!
Sorry to hear this, Iโve been checking for your post. Even without todayโs run thatโs an amazing achievement you should be incredibly proud. Hope you feel better soon. Take care ๐ค
Phenomenal effort, well done. That's my next target but not in February- too few days๐คฃ however I did clock 132km running and 126km walking for January so not a bad performance. Happy running ๐ค
Just done something even more awesome- 200m village walk with 11 month old baby hugs, now that beats the rest of the month. Hes been walking inside for 2 months but this was 1st time out with shoes on. Goodness he was pleased with himself
It runs 3 months from 20 March to 20 June, so youโll need to find your stepping stones for the coming weeks. The Try Dry app tracker for DJ has all this. I surprised myself (tech-sceptic), but it turns out Iโm a sucker for apps with gamified โsprintsโ. I just donโt want to break one. And the longer it is, the less Iโm inclined to break it. The bling feature is relatively new, but youโll already have a gold and a silver cup for January. Now thereโs bling for bling too: how many goals youโve achieved (DJ, SS, big-number sprint targets). The hard work is all front-loaded.
Iโm now on a meditation sprint (another app). Sounds all tipsy-turvy and just plain wrong, I know. But it works, both as an addiction to an app sprint + as meditation.
Great achievements for this month- unbelievable distances and no grog - ๐ณIโd need the glass of wine in order to recover from all that running. ๐คช
Thanks Bambi, yeah I'm normally a big fan of a good drink too ๐คฃ il be honest though, I havnt missed it a bit. Will see if I can get through February too...short month should be easy ๐
That is an amazing mileage total Jericho!!!! You have smashed it.. Hats off to you matey, you've really proven your endurance running skills this month and consolidated the distance at such a rate. We are in awe! And even better, no alcohol this month.. really, you're just showing off now ๐คฃ๐คฃhaha..
Bet you were flying when Mr Blue Sky came on today knowing you were nailing your big 100 ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ So, curious to know what your plan is for Feb?!
I'm still grumpily occupying the IC.. 2wks since my last run and am itching to get out. Long walk today (2hrs) and shins are "ok" though the foam roller is calling.. I noticed every runner who went past looked happy and focussed and getting it done. Will be me soon I hope!!!!!
Thank you R4ul! Well done on still getting out for walks, would be easy to sit on the IC and do nothing. A good walk should keep you fit for when you can run again ๐ค๐ป
February plans are undecided, will try to stay off the booze again and maintain running every other day, certainly aim for a 100+ km month. Will probably attempt some tempo runs to build up the time I can run at 7 to 8 rather than 5 to 6 levels, hopefully have a crack at a few of my speed records if it goes well.
Well done mate - what an achievement! ๐ช๐๐ฆI've been sick with the dreaded virus (my third self isolation period is just coming to an end!) and I'm pretty confused as to where to pick things up! Just getting out the door will be a start ๐คฃ
Cheers SD! Good to see you back mate! Hope your feeling better ๐ค๐ปYeah I'd probably go with just getting out there for a few short jogs, just to see how you feel, go from there.
