Miles for mind

Last year, I set myself the target of 75 miles and scraped over the line on May 30. This year, I passed that landmark last night and am trying to improve on the 108 I did for "Leave nothing but footprints" in October. I probably have 5/6 runs left this month, and I typically do 10-12k on my runs these days, so I should make it.

Still find it amazing that I can do these distances when 2 years ago, I'd only just graduated and run my first 5k in just over 39 minutes. Last weekend I completed my tenth half-marathon distance run.

Intervention anyone?

Congratulations to you sTrongFuse on completing all those runs, especially the 75 miles, you graduated from C25K around the same time as me but have run far far more runs and distances than me, the ONLY run I can better you in time is my first 5K when I ran it in a time of 34.23.

If you factor in age adjustments, you left me for dust on that one. 🤣

Fantastic effort once again, I remember your runs last year, well done. I’m doing RED May for CHSS, a real challenge. Having to keep the majority of my runs to 5k though so I can reach the end. So jealous of your lovely long runs. Happy running 🤗

Good luck. Not sure I could do a Run Every Day challenge. Physically, yes, almost certainly, but I think I'd find it a chore mentally, and if I wasn't enjoying it I probably wouldn't.It's odd but I can happily run 10k every other day (and sometimes both days at weekend) but I cannot envisage me doing 5k every day which would be at most, exactly the same distance.

Funny how the mind works and how important it is.

I totally get the mind thing, by the end of week 2 I was getting so depressed with my runs as I’d had to do a series of 5k’s. sorted it with a 10k last weekend, mixed them up a bit this week and I’ve just done a 12k today - I see 200k for the month in my sights so that should keep me going (145k so far)

I've actually never got to 200k in a month. My most ever was the 185 I did last month, with my monthly average being around 155. I'm currently on 138 for this month so you're a wee bit ahead of me.

Wow you are way ahead of me on monthly averages, I’ve been aiming for 100k/month - - 16 months so far. Often around 110 or so. This month is just crazy. The cool and rain is helping as I’m get too high HR over about 10deg

I suspect the 3 HMs I've done this year have contributed and the fact that the last time I ran less than 10k was back in January. I even managed just shy of 150k in February, despite all the snow and ice. I think I've become something of a lost cause...

Definitely a lost cause - Lost to the joys of running in Scotland whatever the weather throws at us. I even bought a pair of yaktrax so I could continue running through the snow and ice

Just rechecked your profile - you are also younger and male but I did retire early. I remember loving your squiggly runs last year when you were refereeing. Is that going ahead again with COVID restrictions

At club and you'th level, there hasn't been any since February last year. They are hoping to be able to do some U18 friendlies from next month, so fingers crossed the Saturday scribbles will return soon.
