Well, thank you Jericho, after your 22k this morning, i had to get out there! π₯΅
All the ice, and snow gone, really glad i didnt try running yesterday, it was hard enough, just walking, went up through local village, quite busy really, queues outside simmonds, for take away coffee, and main supermarket. Once away from village, quieter, a few other runners/walkers out, 5k point, near home, but groin felt ok, so carried on, actualy my daughter was blowing a bit today, she's now done 105 km in jan, i'm on 113 now π, anyway, onto the canal, not too muddy, even after all the snow, quite happy to finish at 10k.
Hope everyones runs have gone well today, oh it's my mum's 92nd birthday today, still in care home, had a positive covid test a week ago, but not showing any real symptoms atm. π€

Thatβs good news that your mum has no symptoms at present, I hope that continues. Also Happy birthday to her! π₯³πWell done on your run! Gosh your daughter is nearly catching you up!
My mum not really in best of places, i know she's just had enough, will just see how it all unfolds. βΉAlthough my daughter is young, 22, i'm impressed with her running, only started tagging along with me, a couple of months ago, and manages all these distances quite comfortably.
Another good 10k run- glad youβre feeling better than yesterday- I think all the big runs take it out of you even a couple of days later because I did 11k the other day and felt fine and then left it a couple of days and ran yesterday - only did a 5k but felt tired out. Hope your mum continues to have no symptoms.
Thanks Bambi, your right, think my body telling me to slow up a bit too, i know you had a unforced break, i've not really had one, since starting c25k, back in sept. Might consolidate these 10k runs for now, leave the HM's to Jericho! π€£
It went really well thank you, lots of mums friends and neighbours gathered in her street to pay their respects, even though it was raining heavily. I went out and spoke to most of them, before the funeral cars took us to the crematorium.
It was a lovely service..I managed to hold it together and read my eulogy, which I was determined to do, the music was perfect , it couldnβt have gone better under the circumstances, with all these Covid restrictions, itβs such a relief it went well.
Great 10k for you, well done, you and your daughter are fairly clocking up the kms this month. Happy birthday mum - I do hope you gets past the covid, we had 3 relatives in care homes with covid early last year 89, 90 and 94 all fine although from covid and 94 yr old turned 95 at the start of this year. Rotten time for them though as only a few outdoor visits in 11 months π€¨ happy running π€
Thanks Grannyhugs, i kept saying to mum, it's not the best time to be in a care home, but will see how it all works out. How's your total now, might try another 2Γ10k by sun, should be about 130 for jan?
You're aiming high. I'm currently at 114km but have struggled on my last few runs, dizzy on one, very cold and under fuelled for the conditions on another. It's been cold and damp with low level winds and I'm struggling a bit with the runs however 2 more before the end of the month and as I've reached my January 100km I'm adding no extra pressure. I'm learning to run safe loops of the village so I can head home if needs be. Good luck to your 130km π€
Sorry your last few runs, not been so good, i wasn't sure how far i'd go today, but felt ok, a bit stiff now, like you, just happy to get to 100km, i think we might have more snow on sunday. βΉ
Weather app said "running poor" drizzling with plenty surface water but today is a run day so headed out. As always not as bad out as it looks for inside so after lots of ezxtra squiggles round my village after 7I in the countryside I bagged myself another 10k. Enjoy your run when it comes, I hope it's not too snowy.
Great run there! You were right about our pace being similar that's more or less the exact same time as my first 10k. I was happy with my time.Fingers crossed your mum stays asymptomatic π€π€π€
Awwww bless your mam, she's had it tough. Must be terrible for you all.
Well done to you and your daughter on another great run, impressive totals being built ππ» I'm trying to get my girls interested but there not having it (16, 15 and 8) so still running alone π€·πΌββοΈ
Few short runs may do you good if your starting to feel a little wear and tear, I'm going short next few runs for sure, 5 to 10k max.
That is good news on your dear mum ππ» Wow 92, what a grand age. Well done on your run, sounded like a good outing all round and missing the crowds always a bonus! hope that groin behaves itself π€π»
Great run - actually exactly the same time as my 10k! (Although I was 12 secs faster...π). What a great mileage you've done along with your daughter - I've tried to get mine interested but she's firmly glued to the sofa. π
Happy birthday to your Mum! Sorry to hear about the Covid - hope she remains symptom free.
Thank you Jools, just taking each day at a time, she's not in a great place really π₯ Happy with 100km, so last few runs a bonus really, any luck with the oil/boiler issues? π€
Oil was delivered π but I couldnβt get the boiler to work. It fired and cut out a few seconds later. Tried half a dozen times. I (in my new βboiler expertβ capacity) suspect an airlock. Neighbour came, checked everything I was doing, and agreed. Heating engineer coming tomorrow!
Iβm sorry about your Mum. Fingers crossed for her. My Dad is 93 and itβs sad to watch him becoming more frail and heβs so proud. He had the vaccine a couple of weeks ago.
Belated Happy Birthday to your Mum, Peter44, wow 92 what an amazing age, bless her πππSo sorry to hear that your mum has tested positive, that is good that she is not showing any symptoms.
Congratulations to you and your daughter on another great 10km and your amazing Km for the month you are both βοΈβοΈπ π πͺπͺ
She was Asympatic, all the way through, she's just finished her isolation period, so that's good, but had a call from nurse at care home, who says she's going down hill, not eating much, but i know she's had enough, doesnt want to be here any more, which is very sad, especialy not being able to see her. π₯
Aww, glad sheβs over the covid but not good that sheβs feeling so down - it might just be that sheβs lost her appetite and needs building back up and she might feel a little more back to normal. I know I went right off my food when I had it- was having to eat for the sake of it just to get some calories in and then you feel tired so she must be really fed up with all sheβs been through
