I’ve arrived in Gretna Green today only a day later than planned, as yesterday I tried to go for my Friday run only to discover as I left the house, there was black ice everywhere and definitely not worth the risk of an accident, today was warmer and the drizzle at the start soon ebbed away for me to complete my 10k. Looking forward to completing the next 8 miles this week to see me at 500 miles - I’m now off the learn the correct Proclaimers lyrics and not the ones I normally make up!

Welcome to Scotland, you'll definitely have ear worms if you start singing that but it will get you through the run quickly 🤣 happy running 🤗

Remember its burns night soon so you'll be expected to run in your kilt and have some crummy haggis washed down with a wee dram

The wee dram sounds good have to be honest not sure about the crummy haggis! - I’ll give it ago 🤪

Oops scrummy, auto correct took over there. If you like black pudding it's even better, especially with a drag or 2 on a cold frosty night. Must admit we often pop a haggis in the shopping trolley, it's a feel good food

Definitely try it now😊

Lots of creamy mashed potatoes, then mash some carrots in with turnip. Good for fuelling you up for a run.

I agree - I don't have it very often but enjoy it when I do. See if you can get MacSween's - its delicious. They even do a vege one that's v good.

I also welcome you to Scotland Over62, what Grannyhugs says is absolutely correct, you could also learn to say a few times is

"It's a braw bricht moonlit nicht the nicht" which means in English, it is a bright moonlight night tonight.

Thank you - I’ll practice that, it’ll come in handy, I’m sure!

Another frequently Scottish well known saying is"Hoots Mon, there's a moose loose aboot this hoos" which means in English, there is a mouse running around this house.

Crossing the border, eh? Be sure to check the local regulations. 😉

I certainly will, I don’t want to fall foul of the regulations now I’ve come this far!

Congratulations - great progress. Such familiar names there - I grew up not far away. You’ll soon pass Ecclefechan (blink and you’ll miss it). My kids were always amused by the name as we passed it on the motorway and threatened to use it as their new swear word!! 😆

Over62 in reply to Sybilw

I’ll look out for that - love the name, could be my new word too!

Just after Eaglesfield so you may be past it already. “Famous” for Ecclefechan cakes which are like mince pies.

I am literally a stones throw from Ecclefechan from this afternoons walk!

Yes it’s me causing all the rain 🌧

Here’s another funny thing I went for a short walk this afternoon which turned out to be a longer walk due to flooding and when I arrived home and entered the mileage in LEJOG04 I’m now at 499.80 miles 🤣🤣 no worries it’ll all move on with my run 🏃🏻‍♀️ tomorrow.
