Off work today so thought I’d go for a 10k shuffle on a new route - basically 3 miles to the next village and back. Never planned a 10k run before, they’ve sort of just happened.
Well, set off too fast - that’s the story of my running life 😂 and then fell in behind another runner on the same route who was probably about 20s/km faster than me.
This dozy idiot decides to try and stick with them, well about 50m behind. If o was doing 5k it would have been a great idea, however I was tired at the 5k point and had to turn round and head back. Got to 8k and decided enough was enough, could just feel id done enough and don’t really want to break myself...
Knocked about a minute off my 5k PB (but on an easier route than usual) - got it down to 32’41” so not too unhappy.

That 32.41 PB was due to you running for a little while at least at the same pace as that other runner, all my sub 32 minute runs have been at parkruns going at a faster pace than my natural pace, following other runners for at least a short while, congratulations.
🤣🤣 at least following the runner ahead got you a great new PB. A decent 8k run, well done. I too find it hard to start slow, why does that happen 🤷♀️ happy running 🤗
