New Years resolution

When I started the C25K in March i was in a good habit of running alternate days. This worked well until December when I ran more infrequently. So my new year target is to go back to alternate days. It’s so hard in the winter but my work colleague told me even if you don’t feel like running just go out for a short run and when the Spring emerges you will be in habit of running regularly and you will want to run for longer! Sounded like good advice to me.

I wondered though if any one else was having trouble with their breathing running in the cold air. Really struggled today! Also took breathing a while to recover after run!

Yes I found it a bit weird to start but when I warmed up I was OK. Someone told me that you need to put more effort in when its colder - something about how muscles respond to the cold. So maybe we need to expect to go slower when its really cold or else it might feel a lot harder? Just a thought. I'll be interested to see what others say here.

Yes thanks. Certainly did feel much harder than usual. Almost wheezing and when got inside very tight chest. Perhaps will have to slow down abit from my already slow pace!!Hard to believe I will have been running a year in March!

I do try to run every other day when my body will let me. I'm currently waiting for a knee to feel OK again. I'll test it with a short walk to the chemist's tomorrow.

Good luck on your resolution! 👍

Quite a few people have said that running with a buff over their mouth and nose at least for a while at the start of the session works well for this.

Good luck!
