So today I went for a long brisk walk to walk what I thought was easily 10km, imagine how horrified I was to get back home after an age of walking to realise I'd only done 7.5km!! 😲 10km seems a large jump.
Underestimated 10km! : So today I went for a... - Bridge to 10K
Underestimated 10km!
Oh no, how disappointing! But at least you were out there! I now have a Garmin sports watch to track my distance, but before I got it I used MapMyWalk on my phone. It takes me about an hour and 20 minutes to run 10k (I’m very slow) so walking would definitely take me a long time too!
Hi thanks for that, I reckon that would be around my time too, it's nice to know I'm not alone. I will try and build up to 10k.
😂 once you get used to it it’s fine but can be problematic planning these longer routes and realising just how far you are running. By building up slowly you will get there and look back with delight at having conquered this distance. If it’s any consolation I do loads of walks between my runs and it’s always way way further walking the distance than running it. Happy 2021 running 🤗
I shall look forward to that moment of looking back...if I can still stand that is! 😂
I remember this feeling when I went from 5k to 6k 😂. When I drive 5k I am amazed I can run it. 10k is a long way and you will one day be running it and feeling chuffed with yourself.
Happy running
I will let you know when that one day happens. 🤞
That’s the trouble when you start planning longer routes! The farthest I walked for route planning, was 5K. Then I found plotaroute.com. I also checked on Strava what routes other runners took in my area. Now I have a perfect 8km loop, with a choice of side roads to add 2kms. I also have a 10 mile loop and add 2 side roads for a HM route. Sorted! (For now, anyway) 😊
