So after Wednesdays run of running in the snow which was great , todays run was a bit different. Inches of hard compact ice as the snow started to melt then it froze over.

Didn't even know if a run was possible but I thought I'd give it a go . Turned out I did manage a run but was very careful where I was placing my feet.

Heres to 2021 . Happy New Year🥳🥳

It's tricky knowing whether it's possible to run or not in those type of conditions. Looks very similar underfoot to my run a couple of days ago. Glad it was possible for you to run 😊

Normal road running shoes. They just seem to have more grip, just Asics nothing too fancy. You should've seen me when I walked Buddy . You'd think I was auditioning for Billy Elliot 🤣🤣

Well done Buddy, I ran this morning in my local park. Very heavy frost last night and everything had been wet so it was very slippery. I ended up running and walking. I almost fell a couple of times. So just took it nice and easy. It was a nice way to stay warm. Happy New Year.

Great perseverance Buddy. I slithered around yesterday for my final 10k of the year and was going to go for a run to start RED January today, but it was even icier than yesterday having rained and frozen so I made do with a 3.5k walk!

Do you run in trail shoes for this sort of ‘terrain’? I’ve been wondering about getting something other than my Brooks Ghosts as they double as ice skates on cold days! 🥴

No. I don't even own a pair of trail shoes . Just have road running ones. I'll be glad when the temperature rises enough for it to melt though . 😊

Me too, though next comes all the wet. If I step in the tiniest of puddles my toes get a soaking. Think Brooks are constructed of 50% fresh air 😁

Well done! We've got the same, and there's no way I'm running on that - hard enough when I'm walking the dog! However, I hadn't run since Sunday & was so desperate to get out that I drove to the main street, which is the only gritted stretch, and ran up & down for a bit. Only 3.5k, but better than nothing I guess 😄. Felt a bit daft but I wasn't the only headbanger - there was a pair of runners on the other side of the road & we waved as we passed each other multiple times! Wish it would hurry up & thaw.

Today is even worse. I'm like you , I wish it would hurry up and thaw . I ended up running on grass but it wasn't enjoyable.

Also when I was out with the dog I spotted the dead end road which leads to the school is all gritted so might just use that . 😊👍
