Nice run out this sunny morning, with my new run buddy, my husband! He wanted to know what all the fuss was about and agreed to a gentle "walk/jog" out with me. Now this was going to be interesting..

My husband is/was a good runner but his fitness is not what it used to be, what with sport (watching!) and work and life getting in the way...ahhh... πŸ˜†

Heading out without my headphones and a playlist lined up was so strange but I thought we should make this a sociable run so πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚He did well! But we did stop several times for walk breaks as I was afraid of wearing him out πŸ€ͺand I think I bore the pants off him with my frequent "you see, that's why the C25K plan works, it stops you racing off and running out of puff, it's a structured programme you see" and "ah another break...hmm..you see on C25K we're all trained not to stop and I really think that's the key to increasing your running frequency and distance...bla bla" My darling hubs does love to race off on a sprint then when I catch up with him with plenty of energy to keep going, he is slowing.. "we're like the hare and the tortoise!" I said as I paced up our final incline loving life, loving running ..and then waiting for him at the top of the road..lol

We did have a good outing, he said he really enjoyed being out..probably not so much listening to me espouse the wonders of the C25K programme πŸ˜‚and it was fun to be out running with him, instead of on my own. Not sure when we will see a repeat run but you never know! I am hoping I may have helped kickstart his new year health kick πŸ˜‰

One thing I do know, stopping during a run is VASTLY overrated. I haven't done it for so long, it felt so weird today when we stopped for breaks..I really wanted to keep going and that was a revelation. It's not just mind over matter keeping going now, I really do want to keep going and I CAN.

I let hubs walk home at the 3k mark and I powered on round our local park for another 3km, taking my total up to just over 6km I think. 2 days on the trot, I'd better have a day off tomorrow!

Sounds great !! I keep trying to combine a run with a walk with the husband - even suggesting that he walks one circuit around the park one way and I run the other way, as many circuits as necessary (probably two) so we meet several times on the way - and we walk to/from the park together ! But he’s not into it. Today I relented and we went on a walk together instead - run is postponed to tomorrow !

It’s a tricky one..now we’re runners, how to combine the run with the partner/family outdoor time πŸ€” I think you have to do both run and walk to keep everyone happy!

You mean, you have become the voice of c25k??!! πŸ˜‚ Sounds like it was a splendid morning spin and a great change of experience to be running with someone else. (Mind you, your casual 6k canter is my big achievement of the day!! 🦌)

I think I could easily become a rep for C25k!! Pleased to hear they’re now advertising on the radio to hopefully attract the new year fitness crowd πŸ‘πŸ»

Sounds like you had a fun run with your hubby to keep you company-good job you were gentle with him-no tackling a 10K( not on his first run anyway) πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ¦ŒπŸ¦Œ

Ha.. no way I’d push him too far! I’m trying to lure him to C25K, not sure how well I’m doing yet πŸ˜‚ I like a structure, hubs is more β€œfreestyle”.

Made me laugh, telling your hubby the benefits of c25k, i do that, with my kids, i'm sure they dont really listen to me! 🀣 must have made a nice change for you, even with no music, i was like that, when i went out with my daughter, the first time! What was that, you stopped 🀣 i think i just slowed down once, when out with other daughter, till she caught me up, i bet it was hard for you!!! 🀣

Yep the stopping thing was so strange yesterday! I almost looked around to see if someone was going to shout β€œno stopping”!!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

It's funny, the last c25k runs, with walking breaks, seem a long time ago now, i just say to my girls, no, cant stop!!! 🀣

How lovely to have a bit of company for a change.

It's great how we've all progressed from week 1 if c25k isn't it. Where we were afraid we could never manage 20 mins non-stop to feeling slightly annoyed if the slippery mud in my case (or less fit husband in yours) makes you lose your stride. Running has definitely kept me sane (well san-ish) as I struggle through repeated lockdowns and shielding.

I completely agree, thank goodness for us having running during this challenging year. It really has been such a boost for me 😊

Hi, only just graduated but OH seems interested so you never know😁 Don't think he would run outside but we're lucky to have a treadmill πŸ‘

Congrats on your recent graduation! It’s a great feeling isn’t it.. tell your OH running only begins when you get yourself outside and go on running adventures!! That’s all part of the fun 😊
