Speed challenge for a snail.

The support bubble breakfast was booked for 10am, later than usual. Naturally I then had plenty of time so faffery took over. But I got out in the end, saw Dexy5 and UpTheStanley already out in the sunshine on the prom and finally got started on my speed challenge. I’m a snail of course and thought my warm up km was slow even for me but in fact it was 9.13 which I’ll take thank you. I set off at a jaunt on my speed km, thought I was going to have to stop at one point but told myself I could do this and managed to get in a time of 8.26. Which frankly I’m rather pleased with! A whole 17 secs faster than the first one I did on the challenge but that’s ok, right?! I was a few minutes late meeting the bubble but we had a delicious breakfast which, given that Portsmouth is now going into Tier3, could be our last for a while! Happy running folks - and well done all you snails!

Awesome improvement OGR! 👏👏👏👏👏 Did you enjoy it? 😀

Hope you enjoyed your tier 2 breakfast. We’re swapping with you here in Bristol as we’ve been taken out of tier 3.

Keep running over Christmas! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Yes, bizarrely I did quite enjoy it cheeky although I thought the mid point was going to see me off! Yes, I heard you were coming out of T3, you must be pleased! Hopefully we won’t be there for too long!

Yes it’ll be nice to go out for meals again, socially distanced of course. 😀 I’m sure you won’t be in tier 3 for too long. We weren’t - although who knows what will happen after the Christmas free for all?

I almost expired on my speed challenge run yesterday too. The headwind was sooo cruel. 😩

That's brilliant OGR! Speed challenge time I mean, not tier 3 ☹️. x

Thanks Blossom-!

Brilliant effort on a faster time. Then a yummy breakfast. So many tier 3 areas. In Scotland we’ve been warned we may go to lockdown in the new year. If we forget about mixing for Christmas we could all avoid this. 😢 but as long as we can still run, and we’re almost at the shortest day so things are not too bad😂

Shortest day means almost spring in my book! 😅

Well done! Like you, I’m a 🐌...but it’s our own personal challenge!

I’m too consistent...only shaved 4 seconds off my starting run 😂

Here in Wales we go into Lockdown as soon as our stricter Xmas break ends. I’m hoping we can travel for exercise...otherwise I’m stuck with main road running...boring and not fun 🤞🏼☹️

So sorry to hear about your lockdown Lottie - it’s just never ending isn’t it?!

Great work OGR, sorry to hear about tier 3. We have been here for some time and no news of a change despite the numbers in our town being low. Sad to say it is just pants, but at least we get to run with mates and stand outside with takeaway coffee. We have something run related planned for Christmas Eve, exciting times!

Thanks Shakes, yes my sister is in Studley which is the same county as you of course so they’ve been nowhere for ages! My brother’s in Redditch so ‘crosses the tiers’ every time he goes over for tea with his bubble!

17 seconds? That improvement is massive! Sounds massive to me, anyway. Well done! 👏👏👏

Thanks GailX - trouble is you then have to keep doing it!

😂 True. Tough one, that. There’s always ‘consolidation’ to fall back on? 😉

Congratulations on your speed challenge OGR and commiserations on joining us in tier 3. Not a surprise to me as Lincolnshire has been rocketing, although I have no idea why, other than vague pronouncements from Public Health about care homes and secondary schools 😥 Thank goodness you have your bubble with UTS and Dexy 😃

Well done 👌 it’s all about progress and getting better . I am enjoying testing myself out with the speed run ..... I think m prone to a bit of ‘not trying hard enough’ 😂😂 Prone to a bit of the ‘faffery’ too 👌😂

Sorry about the T3 , we have been really fortunate up here in the Highlands 🙏👌

That’s good and I’m glad you got out in your bubble, we bowed out because we’re both unwell at the weekend but ok now and run tomorrow hopefully

An excellent PB run Oldgirlruns - don’t worry. You don’t have to do it again until the next challenge. But you will probably find that your overall running is a bit faster now.
