Festive Run...Down Under Style

Out for my run this morning listening to a Xmas playlist. I had to change the words to ‘the weather outside is frightful, but the air conditioning is so delightful’ as it was so hot and humid...27C at 5.30am, forecast to get to 33 today and that is how it will stay for our Xmas season and beyond. There weren’t any Xmas displays on my running route to photograph so this photo is one I took yesterday a couple of streets away. The city council ran a competition for all of the primary school children. Kids designed Xmas banners and they chose 20 to be blown up and hung in the Main Street. This one was designed by my 9 year old granddaughter, her message ‘Snow is banned forever, Merry Xmas Mate! Merry Xmas!’ Santa is in his swimmers under the palm trees. Anyway I really struggled with the run today, but stuck it out to do 30 minutes, 4.13km, 7’17” avg pace. Wishing you all a safe and happy Xmas.

I can’t imagine running in that heat! Well done 👏👏👏

It’s close to freezing here this morning and this is the second day of fog.

Love the banner! 👍

Thanks Jools. One day I would love to experience a northern hemisphere Christmas....I think you guys are tough for running in the cold! I love the banner too, she was very proud of it.

I hope you get to experience it one day! I spent one Christmas in Australia. It was so weird. The Christmas lights just don’t show up the same in the bright summer. I was buying Christmas cards of snow scenes yet I was baking in the heat! But ... the New Year’s Eve fireworks were fantastic, what a display in Sydney. Yes, it’s cold here and winter hasn’t started in earnest yet. Running is fine once you put layers on, get out there and start. It’s when you have ice and freezing fog you have to take care. Like today, here where I live in the East. It’s fenland so very exposed. I won’t run if it’s slippery, so hoping for milder weather tomorrow!
