I completed the c25k earlier on this year, then continued on my way to 10k prior to our latest lockdown and the gyms closing... yes, I'm a treadmill runner! I had got up to 9.67k & think I could have carried on if I was allowed more than 55mins in the gym! I tried 2 outdoor runs over lockdown, managing 6k each time, but then didn't continue.. to wet/cold/lazy.
Now I'm back in the gym, and haven't ran for 3-4 weeks. I've done one 5k treadmill run (first run back) so I'm pleased I can still manage that at least!
I plan to build back up to 10k, but find it difficult knowing what to eat and at what times on run days... I find I'm getting a stitch or feeling a 'heavy' stomach while I'm running.
Any tips welcome! 🏃♀️

Glad you’re back to running, so to hear outside running didn’t work for you, it’s really worth persevering, maybe try again in the spring. As for diet, everyone is different and you need to try different things. I do most of my runs before breakfast. In winter I go later in the day, maybe an hour after a large bowl of porridge and fruit. Some people need longer between eating and running. I do know I can tolerate a banana and a drink immediately before a run while others can’t. Good luck experimenting. Happy running 🤗
Hi clairer6873! I think we are all different so you will have to experiment to find out what works for you.
For me, if I go out in the morning I can go on an empty stomach or have a nakd bar (just before going out) and I'm ok.
If I go out during the day or in the evening, I usually leave 1-2 hours between my last snack/meal and going out, depends on how I'm feeling. I tend to have several light meals over the day instead of a big one, so as I said before, you might need to adjust to what works for you
