This was unplanned, set off with either a 5k or an 8k in mind, depending on how I felt, whacked mindful miles on the NRC to distract me a bit and off I went. Once I got over the numbing cold and a slower than usual first mile I knew 5k wasn't gonna be enough today and if aim for finishing the mindful miles session.3 miles past and if barely stared breathing heavy π€ not like me at all π€£ times and also got back on track. I was on a mostly new route for my run today, felt nice to see some different places though it was all pretty busy roads so no nature to look at, also it was 6am and pitch black so couldn't see much anyway π.
The coaches started to wrap up the podcast and I think I must have been around my 8k target, still felt good, looked at my watch and realised I wasn't that far off a one hour run...could I do it?
One way to find out! Switched my music to some 90s rap and powered on for my first 1 hour run and over 10k at my first attempt at the distance/time πππ
Absolutely chuffed to bits, anyone who's seen me on c25k forum knows I've only been doing this a few months and literally couldn't run for 1 minute when I started. Now at almost 43 (birthday this month!) I'm the fittest I've ever been! Still got a long way to go with my weight but I feel I'm well on the way now πͺπ» and I actually enjoy getting my running gear on and tearing around the streets/parks/cycle tracks π€£π€£π€£
If I can do it anyone can! Happy running all!

Massive congratulations, what an amazing run for you. It is so good to read these stories about how running is changing lives since lockdown. Happy birthday when it comes. Happy running π€
Thank you grannyhugs π the changes this plan has made to my fitness and mental health...and general outlook on life really! Have been immense, 2020 has been an awful year in so many ways but still has been one of the most important and one of the best of my life, let's give it a good send off and hope 2021 can be so much better π€π»
I've still yet to get to 5k so 10k seems a world away to me!! You'll also not need to stay on the Bridge to 10k forum long if you've already smashed it!! πͺππ¦π€£
I've just noticed we lose our graduate status on this forum - you might be able to claim your next badge?!β
Whoop whoop!! 10k klaxon π¦π₯³πͺπΊπ₯That is absolutely amazing Jericho!!!! OMG you are leading the way as Captain of Team Gazelle now π€£π€£ You are indeed a big inspo to us lot trailing in your wake. I need to get out there for a run now! Sadly, I'm slammed with work at mo and my last run was Sunday, I am itching to get out! Tomorrow morning now is plan and Sunday for a 6km.. Will see how I go but will now have your 10k run in mind to spur me on. You must be chuffed to bits. Enjoy that post-10k glow πππ
Thank you! I've never been captain of team anything so I'm very happy with this promotion π€£π the post 10k glow is very real! I can't get the grin off my face and am weirdly full of energy! I've already done all the washing, dishwasher etc π€£ can't seem to sit still! Good luck for tomorrow's run hope the weather stays semi decent for you π€π»
The man is a machine !!! What do you eat up there in Middlesbrough??? Epic achievement Jericho-brilliant ! Half marathon training calling??? π¦π¦π¦
Parmos π€£ it's our dish and pretty much the only food we are famous for. Though if you Google one you will find there probably not the best food for dieting and training π€£π€£π€£π· but yeah I probably have 1 a week π€£
Further training? I'm probably happy at 1 hour as it is still a manageable time out of my day that I can squeeze in anytime. Il concentrate on building on that for now....but who knows what the future holds!? π
