Pain in ball of foot

Does anyone get pain in the ball of their foot when running? After about 40 mins running I feel I have something hard underfoot but it goes away once I stop. I only get it on one foot. Any advice appreciated.

That sounds painful KaryB! It could really be anything- a sock or shoe issue perhaps, or even the way you run on that foot? Or it could be a patch of hard skin under the ball of your foot - I get one the size of a pea sometimes in the same place - a visit to the chiropodist soon sorts it out! Good luck!

Thanks. As I am running I'm thinking must sort that hard skin out on that foot but when I get home and check there is none. I might try insoles under that part but I have cushioned running shoes.

The hard skin may be under the softer top layer which is what happened in my case. You may not be able to feel it but I bet if you press hard enough you’ll find it!

I'll try a chiropodist. So frustrating. This morning's run was 8k or 1 hour whichever was the longer but everything was feeling good and I would have kept going but for the pain in my foot.

How old are your running shoes, I had similar issue at the start of the year which was sorted when I bought a new pair of brooks. Happy running 🤗

Hi. They are only two or three months old. Both pairs are Brooks.

Yikes, definitely not that, podiatrist does sound like the next stop. Good luck 🤗

I had a touch of Morton's Neuroma which felt a bit like that. Make sure your shoes are not too tight around the forefoot.

Thank you. I have plenty of room in my shoes so it's not that. Hopefully I will get to the bottom of it soon.
