Any advice

I have nearly completed my November challenge and was thinking what can I do next. I have decided to do Bridge to 10k. Feels like it will like climbing Mount Everest! But going to give it a go. I love a challenge🤣

Any advice on the best way to complete the challenge? As there is no app I feel like I need some help on a structured plan😊

Congratulations so far!! You should feel so proud 😃

B210k is an excellent plan. If I'm honest it's all about consistency for me. If you go out three times a week and hydrate daily then it's there for you. Stretch and strengthen regularly too and you'll absolutely do it. Time and pace do not matter but commitment and consistency do.

Enjoy it, run with a smile and run in the moment. Good luck, we will all be behind you!

Thanks GTFC, I have 2 runs left to complete a Dementia Uk challenge. Going to rest up for a week or so as I have a few niggles, then have a go at B210k.

I’m not the fastest runner so I think consistency and commitment are my strengths. I am going to try not to get hung up on pace as I have in the past as it has often sabotaged the feel good factor of a run. I have found a new love of running and find it is the perfect for mental well being.

Thanks so much for your encouragement 😊

Absolutely this!! Definitely run by feel. For me this is how I enjoy it best. Starting steady and take the run as it comes. It really honestly doesn't matter about pace. Someone's fastest run in another's slowest so let's enjoy it. You really will get there. 6 miles seems pretty far at this stage but you'll grow stronger and be ready. You'll do it your way and in your time. You'll earn that distance. It's a brilliant journey and I really hope you grow to love the longer runs which are my absolute favourite 😀

There is a really good plan from ju-ju, the Magic Plan on pinned posts. I got to 10K by slowly adding distance. I was running 5K x 3 times per week. I picked one of these runs and made it my long run. The other 2 runs I just did 5K. So each week I would just add 500 meters onto my long run. That was it, 5.5K, 6k, 6.5K etc. Hidden is bang on. It is all about commitment and consistency. You will do it. Best of luck.

Thank you for your great advice. The way you got to 10k sounds good as well. I have been doing 5k and a little more on all my consolidation runs so I complete the 50mile Dementia Uk challenge. I did this because my mam passed in February with this disease. I am glad that I will have achieved this because it such a worthwhile cause, but on reflection it has put a lot of pressure on me to get to the end. As a result I have a sore hip and quad☹️

Too much too soon I think. Rookie error 😩

Basically I still want to achieve (without injury, because I’ve had some of them on the way) and still enjoy😊 . I realise I am still a novice at running so I’m going to take all the advice I can get from all you EXPERIENCED runners who have been round the block a few times and know what they are doing.

Thanks for advice and encouragement.

Ju-Ju's Magic Plan is absolutely brilliant. It gives you three runs a week, each for a specific time or distance, but doesn't impose the order or days to do them, so you can adapt it to suit you.

Thanks Cmoi, it sounds like it’s a popular plan, others have mentioned it. Thanks for the link. Got two runs left this week, then I’m going to rest up for a week before I start the new plan, as my quad and hip sore.

Can’t wait to get niggle free and get cracking with a new challenge 😊

Definitely consistency. Personally getting from 5 to 10k was easier than getting from 0 to 5! I second Juju's plan :)

Juju’s plan seems to be the most popular. I don’t think I will ever run 10k in 60 minutes so I would have to choose the plan where I run for the 60 minutes.

Can’t wait to get out and get started. Just resting for a week or so to get over a few niggles.

Thanks for your advice 😊

The plan works! If you're not very speedy, I suggest you start with the timed version and move across to the distance one afterwards. Keep posting to let us know how you are getting on - there'll be a lot of support here for you. Good luck and happy running.

Definitely the timed version is the better choice for me. Do I need to sign up somewhere to start the programme?
