Strava November 10K completed โœ”๏ธ

I had actually forgotten about the Strava November to 10K until I just looked at the stats after my run today haha ๐Ÿ˜

My intention was to run more than 5K,

How much more I had not planned as you can see by the splits, I started a bit quicker than I would have liked for a longer run so started to slow it down incase I wanted to go long (8 or 10K)

It felt good today , nice and cool , I had the tights on and long sleeve running top and a very light windproof hi viz jacket , oh, and gloves .

This was perfect for the first half of the run , I was being very conscious of my form from watching the James Dunne video !

All things I was aware of but it was nice to have the reminder fresh in my mind on the run .

I had done around 4K when I decided I would run for at least 10.

It's been a few runs now since my last 10k so needed another one .

At around 7K the gloves came off !

And a quick drink of my 'High 5' energy drink .

I got wet in the process as I kept running ๐Ÿ˜‚

I was approaching my house at around 10K so decided it was a good time to bail out , I could have probably carried on but didn't want to risk the knees ! there were absolutely no knee niggles ! Happy days ๐Ÿ˜

Perhaps I can now start increasing the distance again .

Right , what's for lunch ! ๐Ÿ˜

Well done, Ian! A great 10K to meet the Strava challenge, even if you had forgotten about it ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

I havenโ€™t mastered the art of drinking while running! I used to have to stop completely, but I can now manage it while walking. Progress!

Enjoy your well earned lunch! ๐Ÿ˜Š

I either get wet, choke on the drink or both!

Haha, sorry, shouldn't laugh ! If I'm cycling then I need to stop or I'd fall off haha ๐Ÿ˜‚

If Iโ€™m cycling, I donโ€™t even need to try and drink to fall off ๐Ÿ˜‚

Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to 9weeks2Run

I will probably build up to 10 miles but no rush , I need to be careful with the knees.

I did a 12 k , but that was some time ago now

Fantastic! Sounds like a great run and the fact that you could have carried on suggests these 10ks are feeling comfortable.Having a little rest seems to have done you good!

Good that your knee niggles have gone away - so have mine. Very odd.

Yes, I don't think my little rest did me any harm , put me back a bit but that's fine , I'm not in a race ๐Ÿ‘And yes, strange about the knees , I was half expecting it around 8k, but nothing ๐Ÿ˜

That's a nice bit of abstract art on the map trace there. I can't work out what it's supposed to look like. ๐Ÿ˜†

I know, just didn't want to run twice round my exact 5k route ๐Ÿ˜‚

nowster profile image
nowsterGraduate10 in reply to Instructor57

That's something. I haven't at any point so far done laps over the same route. I've been lucky enough to be able to find circular routes of slightly greater and greater distance. I've even got a couple of 10km possibilities plotted. (Not that I'll need them for at least a month.)

Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to nowster

Oh, I have a few marked out , but this route starts 5 min walk away from the house , so it's convenient ๐Ÿ˜

nowster profile image
nowsterGraduate10 in reply to Instructor57

All of mine start 5 minutes from my house, too. Some need a 10-20 minute walk back at the end, though.

So pleased you managed another long one - it's been a while - and glad that there are no repeat of the knee niggles ๐Ÿ˜ It sounds like you might be getting you mojo back ๐Ÿ‘

Sorry - I missed this one yesterday. I had a stressful couple of days with house related stuff and was so relieved to eventually get out for a run at 2:30 yesterday afternoon.

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Birdlady64

Thank you ! Yes I hope my mojo is back .

It's easier when I'm not working so we will see when I start working again next Wednesday

I haven't seen what the new Tiers will look like yet - so I assume driving lessons can restart across all the Tiers? It is much more difficult when you are working, but must be a bit of a relief for you
