Yes, the Jeff Galloway run/walk plans involve repeating intervals of running and walking in that way. Here's a pic I took from his book 'Training Programs' which shows a table of Jeff's recommendations for run:walk intervals for different paces:
Wow! Counting your paces would also be a very 'mindful' way of running - a bit like Paula Radcliffe's counting to 100 tip bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/2... I think it would be a bit TOO mindful for me though 😊
I learnt "Scout's pace" when I was a Guide. We had to memorise a message, then cover a specified distance and deliver the message at the end of it. My problem was that I'd get so stressed counting steps the message would go straight out of my head!
That must be what my friend was thinking of. Great story - and carrying two bits of information in our heads gets harder as the years go by. “Now why exactly did I come upstairs?” 🤔
