Hiya everyone, another Saturday and its parkrun day and I know how lucky I am to be able to say that. I normally feed the dogs in the morning, but they’ve cottoned on very quickly that Saturdays are very different now, Linda Evangelista said “I never get out of bed for less than $10,000” (blimey was that really 30 years ago when she said that?) My dogs don’t even get up for their biscuits any more, they just open one eye, check out the running gear yawn and go back to what they do best - sleeping. Cheap! and Phew!
Getting up in the dark is c—p, but wandering down to the kitchen this morning after getting dressed, the whole kitchen was bathed in glorious pink and orange glows, just beautiful and a promise of better things to come, spring in a couple of months yay! . The above photos are across the bay from where we were last week - another attempt at finding a running route which doesn’t involve any concrete. Success! Once we’d parked the car at the top and walked down, there was a lovely flat sandy path, with gorgeous coastal views, 10 minutes drive from home.
Better turnout at parkrun today 50 more this week, another PB for me by 17 seconds from my PB last week and a new age grading of 59.2% . I’ve had a brilliant week, a parkrun PB and reached a new distance of 14k. Keep safe everyone and for those who aren’t running at the moment through injury, it won’t be long before you can, stay strong Kia Kaha x

Looks and sounds wonderful lexi6 - and well done on a new PB! It does seem that as we extend our distance we improve our pace on the shorter runs too! Double celebrations!🙂
I’ve got possum fur mittens (eew! that actually sounds gross) wore them last parkrun but they came off at 4k, hands so hot! but they’re coming with me next week. I’m with you Mum22 so good to have them. 👍
Thank you for sharing your amazing photos Lexi, what a wonderful morning you had! And a PB too, isn’t that just the cherry on the cake? You’ve had a great week. 👏👏👏🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Still no Parkrun here. I could do a virtual Parkrun but, because I usually volunteer, that would involve standing on my own wearing a tabard for about an hour.
Thanks jorgeRuns, it was fun this morning and I realise how lucky I am to be living here, especially now. I was born in Stockport and lived there until aged 10 and its so sad reading about the new lockdown in the north. My heart still belongs to the UK. ❤️
Loved reading this!
The bit about the dogs made me roll up! Really liked the 'I’ve had a brilliant week, a parkrun PB and reached a new distance of 14k' bit. You deserve it. Well done and keep going 🥇
Thanks Baddie, resting next week and then will try for 16k. Feeling pretty lucky that parkrun is up and running here. We’re feeling a bit lonely though ☹️
Lovely photos you have taken for all of us to look at, your dogs must know when Saturday parkrun is.
50 more at your parkrun this morning and you getting a PB as well as a age grading of 59.2%, excellent running.
This morning at (not) parkrun I got an age grading of 56.12%, that was for running a equal PB time of 33.12, that's three and a half minutes quicker than a week ago, nevertheless this week I didn't run 10 miles as I did last week, enjoy the rest of the weekend. 😊 🏃🏾
Thanks Alan, yep think the dogs are pretty smart, not that they look it 😂 I got a time today of 35.57, which I think is probably just about my limit and your 33.12 is brilliant. Your rest from your 10 miles effort has obviously made a difference. Enjoy your weekend too 👍
It’s pretty bleak here still. So many cases and so many deaths 😢 Waiting to see whether they will go to stage 4 although none of it matters if people don’t do the right thing. Come on Melbourne😷
I’ve been reading the news daily and it makes for sad reading, the deaths and the many new cases. Can’t understand why people aren’t taking this seriously enough. 😤
I think you’re probably right too. I don’t know when our borders in NZ will open again and we’re very lucky that our new cases have been in managed isolation or quarantine and we don’t have community transmission. 🤞 keep safe RW.
Great pictures and a fantastic run for you. It's funny to think of you getting up in the dark when in the north of Scotland we are just edging out of what appears perpetual daylight. Happy running 🤗
What a great week you’ve had Lexi! Fantastic photos. I have to say I am so glad I am in France and away from what feels like unremitting negativity in the UK.
Thanks Sandie, you are definitely in the right place right now 😎 I hope things have improved in the UK by September when you return. Up north seems particularly grim at the moment.
Kia Ora Lexi6, What beautiful pictures of your lovely country. It sounds like you had a great parkrun today , and 14k! You will soon be gaining a 10 mile badge I am sure.
Thanks Dexy loving parkrun at the moment, I think I will be attending a little more regularly now I have the energy to catch up and pass other runners 😂 and searching for new running routes, makes for some great photo opportunities, hope I don’t run out of beauty spots. I really want to try for 10 miles on softer ground other than concrete I run on now with no railway crossing/cars interruptions. Hope you’re doing ok?
You are running parkrun for all of us now Lexi6, and you are doing great.
I agree, as you extend your running , it’s great to find new routes to keep your interest. I also found I needed little bursts of energy along the way and took dates and dried apricots to nibble on en route. I wore a hydration vest to carry liquid too.
I’m sure you’ll never run out of beautiful sights to capture. I find that even from our seafront , the sea and sky is ever changing, and never fails to remind me of how lucky I am to live by the sea.
I’m not back to running yet but I’m seeing the physio on Wednesday. 🤞I am really missing it now.
Thanks Dexy, living by the sea and running on the seafront would just be amazing. I probably do need to investigate a water bottle carrier of some description, especially when I venture further away from home but choice is very limited here, as we have none of the big sports shops here and everything is so expensive.
Best of luck with the physio on Wednesday and I hope you’re running again soon. 😊
Lovely report Lexi, you have had a successful week! The new routes you have checked out look great, and you are well on your way to acheiving that 10 mile distance. Good luck!
I can just picture your dogs watching you appear before breakfast time in your running gear, and sighing and going back to sleep on Parkrun day...😅 Mum's so sporty nowadays!
Congratulations on your new PB and thank you for the shout out to those of us on the IC. Kia Kaha.🌹xxx
Thanks BBr it has been a great week and if the lovely weather we’re having, no wind and sunshine holds, I’ve one more spot to check out this week, a little closer to home, so there won’t be any sea views, unless I climb the hill to the top! Think my parkrun PB was down to my new leggings aptly titled Flash 😂 Have a wonderful week xxx
