How do I stop having dead legs the day after a big run? I did 10k yesterday in preparation for The Run in the Dark on 18th November!! I only started C25K in Jan this year so I’m new to all this 😉🏃🏽‍♀️

Ooh dead legs sound worrying. Are you running too fast for a new 10k runner, have you tried extra rest day before your 10k day? Stretching enough after your run? Well done on your running progress this year though, brilliant. Happy running 🤗

I don’t think I stretch enough.. and I did 45mins HiT Spin and 45 mins Bodypump the day before the 10k..

Yikes, sounds like you are asking a lot of your body, timetable in some rest time too so your body can repair itself. I find this useful for stretching after runs

Thanks :) I need to plan a bit more when I run and exercise. I also work 3/4 nights a week so I don’t have a routine :)

Well done on your second 10k. Just make sure you are stretching enough after EVERY run and it helps to keep the legs moving by walking later on the same day. Good luck 👍

Is there a link or advice for stretches? I just walked a couple of k after the run and didn’t do any stretching..

Well done for completing your second 10K. My advice would be to ensure you have one rest day at least between runs to enable your body to recover. Warm up well before running and cool down after. Stretch thoroughly after every run. I do yoga as well in the evenings after running. And a warm bath is great for relaxing muscles. For aches and pains I use magnetic therapy. I use these: Magnets4wellbeing.com

After now having completed a few 10ks and about 3 longer runs too, I find I need 2 rest days, with yoga or other exercise on my non run days. Also, make your next run a slow short recovery run, and walk on rest days.

Good luck.
