Knee injury

Picked up a knee injury last week after a 6k on Friday 23rd and 5k on Sunday 25th October. Could it be down to my shoes or just overdoing it? Reluctant to push it as am 53. I completed c25k in September, having started in June, buying £90 asics. Any tips appreciated.

I picked up an ankle injury in August. I am 64 and it was definitely over doing it in my case. I tried resting but it didn’t work and I ended up going to a physio. If I get injured again I won’t wait so long to get physio. Visiting a podiatrist recommended by the physio I was told to put insoles in my running shoes. Doing regular Jeffing whilst recovering has helped me enormously and I am back to full fitness now. Hope you get your knee sorted soon x

Jeffing is a running program by Jeff Galloway. You can look him up on the internet. It’s a run walk program. I didn’t have gait analysis done when I got my shoes. The podiatrist I went to said as long as you have got a firm fitted shoe with adequate cushioning I would be ok. He said most expensive proper running shoes are fine. I put insoles in mine because I already wore insoles in my day to day shoes. You can get a NHS podiatrist appt through your GP if you tell them you are having problems when running.

So I got gait analysis done at Runners need, London Bridge. To be honest, running on treadmill was pretty simulated and I've seen a shop that asks for video of you running naturally on road or grass. Can anyone recommend another shop to get gait analysis?

Not what you're looking for?
