So today should have been my 9k run on the magic plan but somehow I didn’t quite feel strong enough - a little niggle in the inner right ankle and inner right knee made me think i should take it easy - so I decided to walk my 10K route ahead of the London vitality 10K I plan to do either 25th Oct or 1st nov depending how I feel ! After about 3km walking though I felt like a bit of a run - blimey walking fast can be pretty gruelling - easy on the heart but hard on the legs ! I though running would be a breeze - well - not really. Felt really heavy and only managed about 3k. Continued walking and made myself run the last 1k. Felt like in the first week of C25k - was pretty grim. I stopped the watch at 10K but actually kept on walking a bit - I guess around another 4K. I think moral of the story is..... I’ve done well on my long runs when I’ve put in less during the week - ie a longer break between runs. Last week I did two 6.5k runs (more than the magic plan recommends). Reckon this week I’ll take it easy - just one 6k run before attempting 10K next weekend.
Now for a piece of cake !🍰

You will be ready!! Nice and steady and lots of confidence 👌
Well done - it is good to recognise the need for a rest and to have extra rest days if you instinctively know you need them! I have now learnt not to be tough on myself if I need 3 or 4 days rest. You must walk fast, I take 1hr 19 mins to run a 10k!
The ‘walk’ part of my walk was indeed about 6k per hour (ie 10mins) - not my normal stroll ! And the 4K I ran was about a 7min per k (or actually 8 mins for the last K which I omitted to say was actually uphill !). I reckon if I ran the whole thing it would be a slower pace of run so could well take me more than 80mins.... hmmm why run when you can walk fast ?!?!!!
Don’t overdo it Juliet202, listen to your body and take as much rest as needed. I’m sure you’ll breeze 10k for Vitality Run no problem. I went to a car bootsale today and walked over 5k, so next run Tuesday 👍🏃♂️
